Naoe Kanetsugu – Hyakka Ryoran by ALTER

It’s Hammer time! The warrior of love, Naoe Kanetsugu makes her appearance.
Today I can present you my review of ALTER‘s latest figure from the Hyakka Ryouran lineup. There already have been a few reviews of her, but it would be nice if you would read mine as well.
Naoe Kanetsugu is scaled 1/8 and has a height of 225 mm including the height of her hammer. She was sculpted by Makio Munetoshi who mainly works for ALTER and Kotobukiya as well.

New Preorders part 12

A few preorders piled up again and today I will tell you about my latest orders, because of an unexpected figure it got more expensive than I planned. April seems to be a cursed month.
Even more if the Bath Time - Hinako won’t face any more delays. On the one hand Im looking forward to photograph her on the other hand I’m slightly embarrassed by her level of nudity.
At the end of this post I will show you the updated Preorder Roadmap and other appealing figures that are already up for preordering or the ones which were just announced recently. Continue reading

Mirai Nikki – anime review

It’s anime review time again! I didn’t feel the urge to write a review about any anime from the past season, instead I will talk about my impressions of Mirai Nikki, an anime which recently ended.
Mirai Nikki is a 26 episode long anime based on a manga written and illustrated by Sakae Esuno.
It was produced by Funanimation and Asread and aired from October 9, 2011 to April 15, 2012.
I jumped a bit later on the Mirai Nikki bandwagon, but thx to that I had the pleasure to watch nearly the first half of the anime without weekly waiting time. The genre is a mix of supernatural, mystery, psychological-thriller and comedy, with quite a number of lunatic characters in the cast.

Shinobu – Bakemonogatari by GSC

Today I will talk about Shinobu from Good Smile Company, as you might know she is based on the Bakemonogatari anime/light novel , imagine some people still haven’t watched it, how weird ;p
Bakemonogatari was well received by the audience and manufacturer Good Smile Company,
turned all of the 6 heroines of the show into 1/8 scaled figures, they were all based on the Blu Ray/DVD front cover illustrations. Other Companies like Kotobukiya or ALTER also made nice figures of that franchise, but from my impression Good Smile Company offered the better looking figures, overall. I was tempted to buy the figure of Kanbaru, but I was doomed by the sold out tag, actually I wanted to wait for a price discount. Unfortunately that never happened.
A few more month ago a prototype of Shinobu was shown at Wonderfestival. I really liked the cute appearance of her sitting on a donut pile with a vintage motorcycle helmet. So I waited for preorders being opened, her price was quite good and I better not wait for the sold out tag again.

Astraea – Sora no Otoshimono by PLUM

Hi people
Here is my first figure from manufacturer PLUM, it’s Astraea from the Sora no Otoshimono anime/manga. Her release date was in December 2011. On first sight, I got quite interested in this figure, but my opinion of Plums craftsmanship so far was just based on this Nymph figure and it wasn’t that convincing to me. So as their Astraea was announced I decided to wait a bit more with the purchase, I also expected that she might end up in the bargain bin like Plum’s Nymph before, but the opposite happened, at the shops I use more often the figure was sold out fast.
It seems like a lot of people bought this figure but actually not a single person wrote a review about her (correct me if I’m wrong), which was another reason for me to track this figure down. Fortunately I could find it the figure a few month after release at Plamoya, sometimes they have nice discounts, no Im not sponsored
During the shipment I started to doubt my decision, I didn’t know what to expect from Plum or this figure, would I be satisfied with this Astraea… ?
Anyway Im glad that I ordered Astraea in the end, I would have regret it if I had passed on her.
check out why in this review … Continue reading

Genesis of Aquarion anime review

Genesis of Aquarion is an anime that I watched lat week, this show was 26 episodes long and was aired from April till September in 2005. Two additional OVA were made and a Movie came out in the year 2007. In this latest anime season a new adaption of the Aquarion franchise called Aquarion Evol started. So far I enjoyed it a lot and so I got curious about the previous anime.
With its fancy transformations, special moves and sudden enhancements of power levels Genesis of Aquarion is a little homage to the Super Robot shows of the 1980′s and 1990‘s.
In the distant past mankind faces a fearsome enemy, the Shadow Angels who harvest them to extract their plana, the energy source of the Angels. The Shadow Angel Apollonius once betrayed his comrades after he fell in love with the human girl Celiane. In a bloody battle Apollonius and his human comrades were able to seal the Shadow Angels in their base, called Atlantia. In the future 11 years prior to the story an great crisis occurred and the Shadow Angels from 12000 years ago were free again. They start to attack the humans again with mecha units and harvesting machines to catch the inhabitants of the cities. The weapons of mankind have no effect on the enemy.

Kaminagi Ryoko ~Resurrection~ by ALTER

Hi fans, today I’ll present you a new figure review.
Its been a few figures since I reviewed a figure of them, so lets give a warm welcome to ALTER’s Kaminagi Ryoko, as I saw the figure for the first time I thought she was boring, but at least I got interested in her origin Zegapain and after watching it I actually fell in love with her character. Zegapain is from the year 2006 and was made by Studio Sunrise, who are well known for their mecha related anime, like Gundam. Zegapain has a different feel to it than their usual kind of show, since it’s more focused on the characters and their emotions than the mecha fights. In case you are more interested in the Zegapain anime you can check out my review
Ryoko is a childhood friend archetype character. But nevertheless she is one of the more interesting childhood friends, she is not very hot in terms of looks, but she has an enchanting kind and upbeat personality, her voice actress Hanazawa Kana also gave her a very fitting voice.
Im hard to please when it comes to figures from my favorite anime characters, Im already that picky that if at all I only own very few figures of my favorite anime girls
anyway ALTER’s attempt of Kaminagi Ryoko convinced me very quick and the pre-order was set in stone.

Sonicomi Art Book – normal edition – review

The enchanting Soniko, mascot from Nitro+ gaines more and more popularity these days, she also received an own artbook treatment recently. This Sonicomi Art Book was published by Softbank creative and the release date was in the middle of December 2011.
It was sold in two version, there was the Sonicomi Art Book Premium Box which included an extra towel and a CD that included a few bonus outfits for the Sonicomi game for around 5524 Yen and the normal version which came without any extras had a price of 2800 Yen. At first I somehow wasn’t that interested in getting the book, but in the end I tried to get one copy of it.
I was able to find one of the last copies at cdjapan, at that time I thought there was just one version of the book, but it turned out as a misunderstanding, so there were no extras for me
