Sometimes there appear manga with an hilarious sounding setting you’d never thought of and sometimes it happens that this works will get an anime adaption, like Manyuu Hickenchu, a 12 episode long anime, made by Hoods Entertainment, who also made Seikon no Quaser. I would describe it as an ecchi roadmovie in an traditional japanese setting with comedy and a bit drama.

Today’s anime review is about Manyuu Hickenchu, after the past 6 anime reviews of Ikoku Meiro no Croisée , Kaitou Tenshi Twin Angel , Ro-Kyu-Bu, Usagi Drop , Blood C and Mayo Chiki this will be the 7th and probably last anime review of Summerseason 2011

[singlepic id=1466 w=320 h=240 float=none] [singlepic id=1459 w=320 h=240 float=none]
The story takes place in japan, in an alternate Taiheimeji period having big boobs is of big importance for the people, the size of the boobs decides about the social status and the future of families and especially the one of the women. Without big boobs you are an outsider without much worth. The influential Manyuu clan keeps that social rule high since they have written down all the secrets about getting big boobs on a scroll, which is giving them power in japan.

Chifusa the will be succesor of the clan can’t accept this social injustice and steals the scroll with all the secrets. The Manyuu Clan sends ninjas after her to get their important scroll back. Chifusa escaped wounded with leaving her friend Kaede behind. Kaede awaits a cruel punishment for letting Chifusa escape, her boobs will be cut off…………………………………..For Real?!………………….

[singlepic id=1467 w=320 h=240 float=none] [singlepic id=1465 w=320 h=240 float=none]
As I watched the first episode which was quite extreme in different aspects I thought they would cut off the boobs of the women for real leaving scary scars, I was shocked. But when hit by a sword the breast only shrink to a small size, that was a relief for me hahaha, ok its still cruel.

At the second appearance of her pursuers Chifusa sees the “mutilated” Kanade she left behind at her escape. In the fight with her stepsister Kagefusa, Chifusa’s special ability is revealed, when she strikes her opponent with a sword she shrinks the boobs of her opponent and absorbs their breast size, so with every fight her cup size increases, which causes a few problems soon.
Her evil stepsister is in despair after loosing her big boobs and the other ninjas don’t want to attack Chifusa anymore, she takes her chance and escapes with Kanade into the forest.

[singlepic id=1468 w=320 h=240 float=none] [singlepic id=1469 w=320 h=240 float=none]
Chifusa wants to distribute the secrets of the scroll to the whole land, with her pursuers still on her heels she goes on a long journey with her friend Kanade. During the show both meet several people who show Chifusa how they deal and suffer from the “boobs mean everything in society” rule. There are also a lot of good comedy and several fights with the pursuers from the Manyuu clan, later on also some backflash scenes about the main characters are shown. The story is not great but decent, the anime isn’t just about big bouncy boobs and fanservice.

[singlepic id=1463 w=320 h=240 float=none] [singlepic id=1460 w=320 h=240 float=none]
The chemistry between Chifusa and Kaede is great and their interactions are just hilarious, Chifusa is a pretty dark haired girl with high ideals and a big heart, she is voiced by Kotobui Minako (Mugi from K-ON!) Kaede is the lively and upbeat part of the duo, after the loss of her boobs she’s quite jealous of Chifusa’s still growing breast size, but she doesn’t blame her for the loss, she is voiced by Toyosaki Aki ( Yui from K-ON!)

Most of the time the show doesnt take itself very seriously, but there is also some believeable drama included. The comedy isn’t especially sophisticated, but its very well timed and features good slapstic, funny faces and funny remarks from the characters.

[singlepic id=1472 w=320 h=240 float=none] [singlepic id=1471 w=320 h=240 float=none]
[singlepic id=1458 w=320 h=240 float=none] [singlepic id=1462 w=320 h=240 float=none]
The fanservice is nice and bold, they are throwing big bouncing boobs and puffy nipples right in your face XD In the first two episodes a bit of violence is combined with the ecchi scenes, a bit hard but after these episodes, its not violent anymore. In case you don’t like fairly sized boobs the fanservice might turn you off. Personally, I have no problem with big anime boobs, even though there were a few “TOO BIG!!!” scenes for me. Anyway Chifusa is a cute hottie even with changing boob sizes. You should watch the less censored version Hiryuu-Kira fansubs provide.
I hope you don’t mind that I included none of the more bold scenes, but so far wieselhead is no H related blog, otherwise I could have written about my impressions of Mahou Shoujo Elena XD

[singlepic id=1470 w=320 h=240 float=none] [singlepic id=1461 w=320 h=240 float=none]
Manyuu Hickenchu was a quite enjoyable anime show, the characters of Kaede and Chifusa were very likeable. In summary this show had a good mix of fanservice, very good comedy and a nice traditional japan setting. Also the animationstyle with the appealing character design was nice to watch. Next to Usagi Drop and Blood C it was one of the shows I’v enjoyed the most from this season.

Mayo Chiki is an 13 episode long show that was made by studio Feel and tells the tale of Sakamachi Kinjirou (Jirou), a highschool boy, with a certain problem, he always gets nosebleed when a girl touches him. It is some kind of gynophobia, because his mother and sister always used him as sparring partner for their wrestling exercises. The other main character is Subaru, who is working as a butler for the rich Suzutsuki household, but mainly takes care of the daughter Kanade and visits the same school as her and all the girls have a crush on him.

[singlepic id=1405 w=320 h=240 float=none] [singlepic id=1408 w=320 h=240 float=none]
Everyone at school believe that Subara is a boy, but in fact she’s a girl. For some difficult to understand reason she badly wants to be a butler. Subaru is only allowed to keep working as a butler when nobody at school notices that she is actually a girl. Unfortunately, one day Jirou discovers that Subaru is a girl, to shut his mouth she wants to kill him, but Kanade can stop her.
Suzutsuki Kanade arranges with Jirou that he will keep silent about Subaru’s true identity, in return she promises to help him with overcoming his so called gynophobia and the chaos begins.

[singlepic id=1412 w=320 h=240 float=none] [singlepic id=1409 w=320 h=240 float=none]
Well in fact she will only tease him for her personal joy. She is easygoing sadistic and if you ask me an evil girl, because she puts Subara and Jirou into embarrasing situations, who could even expose Subaru’s true identity. But she’s great at playing the playful, erotic sadist XD.
Subara and Jirou have to work together and soon both become very close and friendly.
That both start to hang out as friends causes quite a commotion at the school and at Jirou’s home, he finds himself targeted by the fanatic female Subaru fan club called S4.

[singlepic id=1411 w=320 h=240 float=none] [singlepic id=1406 w=320 h=240 float=none]
Two more characters are introduced in the first half of this show, the first one is Usami a member of S4, at first she had a crush on Subaru, but she soon develops feelings torwards Jirou in a tsundere fashion. My favorite character Nakuru, is a beautiful, well developed girl, who is the chairman of the “Let’s warmly protect Subaru-Sama” comittee a split group of S4. Yeah, she’s a weirdo, who draws and sells her own boys love manga and is addicted to glasses, but I like her anyway. She’s the only only one who seems to have no feelings for Jirou. The last episode of Mayo Chiki centered around Nakuru, which I’ve enjoyed a lot. Any other Nakuru fans here ? ^^

[singlepic id=1413 w=320 h=240 float=none] [singlepic id=1410 w=320 h=240 float=none]
Mayo Chiki is a bit silly sometimes, because some things doesn’t make much sense, but it’s silly in a creative and very funny way, good comedy is a big part of this anime. There is also romance and drama with a very few heartwarming moments included. The show features a good portion of tasty and good placed fanservice, there are quite a few more hot scenes. It’s nice! ^^

One point I also should mention, is the high quality animationstyle, it is very detailed and has smooth animations, also the characterdesign is very appealing with attractive and cute girls, the eyes looks great. I think we can expect a second season of Mayo Chiki, it was fun to watch.

Thx for reading, I have two more animes reviews of summerseason 2011 left stay tuned.

Hi everyone after Ikoku Meiro no Croisée , Kaitou Tenshi Twin Angel , Ro-Kyu-Bu and Usagi Drop, today I can present you the 5th review of an Summerseason 2011 anime. Its about Blood C a show I always was looking forward to see the next episode, usually Im on bad terms with horror movies, but I made an exception this time. I guess I fell in love with the main heroine.

This anime centers around Saya, together with her father she lives at a shrine in a very rural and contemplative village. She lives her daily live as a teenager, but at night she has to take over the task of her passed away mother, slaying ugly monsters, called Elder Bairns. It is said that they eat the people of the village since ancient times. Saya’s weapon against them is a sharp katana and her own strength. She appears like a normal girl ok, she’s enchanting. Hehe it’s like I created the characterdesign, she’s a beautiful, black haired girl with glasses. She has a happy and kind personality, with a worldly innocent charm, she can be quite clumsy and is easily distracted.

[singlepic id=1447 w=320 h=240 float=none] [singlepic id=1454 w=320 h=240 float=none]
When slaying monsters she can defy them, but can only kill them when her hidden powers awake and her eyes turn red. In the fights she never appears superior torwards the monsters as I would like to. The fact that Saya is no tough fighter, can also be seen after the fights, aside from her wounds, she appears emotional disturbed and her body is shivering, which is quite painful to watch. On the other hand it creates a very dark and scary atmosphere, “Saya don’t die”

[singlepic id=1448 w=320 h=240 float=none] [singlepic id=1450 w=320 h=240 float=none]
The person in charge of the monster design did an excellent job, these were some really bizarre and ultra scary creatures. They look really disguisting so that they gave me a feel of real terror and scared me everytime they appeared. Things get even more scarier when the monsters start to appear at daylight. Saya instantly faces them tries to protect the people standing around, but she isn’t strong enough to fight and protect at the same time, in the end everyone nearby gets brutally slaughtered, Saya is a horrible hero in that regard

[singlepic id=1449 w=320 h=240 float=none] [singlepic id=1452 w=320 h=240 float=none]
The first half the show isn’t scary all the time, there are also calm and funny moments. Well, the fun part which I’ve actually enjoyed a lot ended soon and things get really gruesome and sinister.
Soon it appeares like Saya and the things which are happening around her are not as they seem to be, the anime takes its time to bring light into the shadows and the randomly inserted mysterious monologues of the narrator, but the last two episodes finally give us a few of the needed background informations and a big story twist, it all makes sense in the end.

[singlepic id=1457 w=320 h=240 float=none] [singlepic id=1446 w=320 h=240 float=none]
I hadn’t expected that this show would turn out that brutal, I was surprised. In the last episode Blood C literally celebrates gore and violence, I think that was the most disguisting stuff I’ve ever seen. I was close to puke haha. Of course it was censored to be aired on TV, but they showed enough to let you imagine what was happening, this anime is definetely not for sensitive beings.

[singlepic id=1456 w=320 h=240 float=none] [singlepic id=1455 w=320 h=240 float=none]
And that from Clamp a studio which made stuff like Cardcaptor Sakura and Kobato, haha what were they smoking. If I had known that this show would take such a boost in case of disturbing violence, I probably would’ve never watched this show, it was nearly more than I could handle.

Blood C reapt a lot of critic like, having plotholes, being poorly paced or Saya being stupid.
Like I said earlier everything makes sense in the end when you’ve paid attention to the details.
This anime is ought to be the prequel of the upcoming Blood C Movie, which will air in june 2012, so its natural that they can’t give us all the informations and answers we would like to have.
I only disliked two episodes and the over the top brutality at the end was a bit hard for me.

Overall Blood C wasn’t bad from my point of view I actually liked it a lot, Clamp style heroine Saya is adorable, the lighthearted scenes at the beginning were quite entertaining, the later episodes of the story became more thrilling and scary. Thanks to the cooperation with Production I.G. the fights are very well choreographed, full of action and looked epic, also the animation style looked very good and created a deep atmosphere. Saya is an interesting and likeable “heroine” and a very pretty one on top of that. I also liked the astmospheric background music and especially the op song from “Spiral” by DUSTZ was nice, one of my favorite opening songs this season.
httpvh://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F6WAjSt-izk&feature=related

I will watch the Movie because I think the impression as a whole will good, even though there will be a long waiting time until june 2012, the show aired to early if you ask me.

Hello everyone, summer comes to an end and also most of shows from the anime summer season have ended. I’ve picked way to many shows this time but I’d like to share my impressions with you about the stuff I’ve watched theses last few months.

This time I will cover up the Anime Summerson 2011 in a different way, instead of writing a post with every show, I will make a single post for every show I’ve watched. I just wrote too much text this time (3300 words) for one single post. So you can expect a new anime post, every 2nd day.

In the next few days I will show you reviews of the following anime shows

Ikoku Meiro no Croisée
Kaitou Tenshi Twin Angel
Ro-Kyu-Bu
Blood – C
Usagi Drop
Nekogami Yaoyorozu
Mayo Chiki!
Manyuu Hikencho

I will only write about the shows which have ended, maybe I’ll cover the ongoing shows later.

Ikoku Meiro no Croisée

This 12 episode long show takes place in Paris during the nineteenth century, it is a lovely slice of life show, about the daily life adventures of Yune, Claude, Oscar and the hilarious but also enchanting Alice, in a shopping Gallery somewhere in Paris. The main character is Yune, a 13 year old girl from japan and for whatever reason, she traveled to Paris to live at the house of Oscar and his grandson Claude Claudel, who owns a small iron workshop in the Gallery.

The Blanche family who is running a huge mall is the natural enemy of the small shops from the Gallery and Alice the youngest daughter of the Blanche family appeard like the antagonist in this show, she’s a spoiled brat with a rotten personality, who is crazy about japanese things.
As she learned about a japanese girl living nearby, Alice is beside herself with joy and wants to get to know Yune. After a few episodes I really started to like her and her weird but likeable character and top of that she is adorable, Yuuki, Aoi did a great job with the voicing of Alice.

This show is quite lighthearted and funny, because the cultural differences between Yune and the other characters, there occur a lot of funny situations and misunderstandings. Yune isn’t used to the european lifestyle and Claude doesn’t know anything about japan and always gets the wrong idea about the things he is being told by Yune and Oskar.
[singlepic id=1444 w=320 h=240 float=none] [singlepic id=1445 w=320 h=240 float=none]
Well, sometimes the show leaves it’s way of being lighthearted for example when Claude is overly harsh torwards Yune when she comes too close to his personal issues, when they show how the poor people in Paris live or when it is shown what the rich going to get married girls have to sacrifice because of their social position. Or when we learn something about Yune’s past.

Overall, the show had a wonderful flair, with the nicely animated city and the french toned background music it was highly enjoyable, I also liked the calm and cozy atmosphere Ikoku Meiro no Croisée created. If you have no problem with the slower pace of an slice of life anime, this would be a nice show to watch. It ended with an open happy end, so a second season is possible.
