Yo whazzup, review time!

This will probably be the most unmotivated figure review since this blog started.

This weeks figure review is about Hasegawa Kobato, she’s a character from the lovely anime adaption Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai. Kobato is the little sister of Kodaka, the main character, both live alone since they decided to stay in town when their father moved away.

The figure was made by Kotobukiya and released in October 2013, the figure is scaled 1/8.

Kobato is obsessed wih a certain vampire anime and copies the behaviour of the main heroine very accurately and dresses like a goth loli. One would actually think a girl like her would have no friends or be bullied, but as we learned in the second season, her classmates adore her.

In this illustration of Buriki, Kobato lookds quite adorable and I was happy that this was adapted as figure. The figure sold like hot cake and the shops played the sold out – in stock game, Actually, it was not easy to catch one for people who didn’t order early, the first day.

Speaking of that I actually ordered the Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai artbook, but the shop messed up and never acquired a copy for me (╯︵╰,).

In the promo pictures the figure had nice opaque, pale skin, instead the final figure shows the skintexture of a marzipan pig, it’s the kind of PVC Griffon or Ques q often uses. What doesn’t appear like a big deal, annoys me so much, I can’t help myself, it just makes me angry. I don’t know which idiot decided to change the material for the final product, Why! Why! I could always count on Kotobukiya for appealing skintones, at least but for some reason not this time.

I’m already too biased to write a review like usual, I change my usual review pattern this time.

Review

The figure resembles her character from the anime quite well, although she doesn’t seem too smile that often in the show, when her brother pays too much attention to other girls.

Kobato has a cute face, the heterochromia eyes are nicely detailed, there is also a little blush on her cheeks and the friendly smile is really charming. The hair shows a very bright blonde color, there is a fading transparency effect incooperated what I actually like, the strands are sculpted surprisingly good.

The dress is looks good and appealing, fingerless gloves, a corsage top with white rims, a number of blood red ribbons and lovely hair decoration. Kobato also is wearing stockings, a garterbelt and black panties. Partially the details on it could be a bit finer, when you look at the ruffles of her skirt, they appear slightly thick compared to rest of the dress.

See, the figure is not bad overall, you get your little, goth loli with nice hair and a pretty dress.

The pose actually looks like falling off the chair with a big smile, but to whatever Kobato is up to it looks cute. She has a shiny black base in oval shape with some white ornaments printed on.

On the base is a cream white chair, in an antique, Victorian design, the red velvet seating is a quite nice detail of it. The legs behind are halfway sunk in the base, it would be cool to have a full chair though. You connect Kobato and the chair via metal rods that slide in the holes of her knees. You can’t really use the chair with other figures, well it’s glued to the base anyway.

Final words

Of course Hasegawa Kobato is no bad figure, she has a pretty face, nice hair and a pretty goth loli dress. The details are nice and the paint is applied cleanly, it shows the actually good quality of this figure. Why I’m that dissapointed is hard to tell, I guess I had too high expectations after Max Factory’s wonderful Kobato and Maria figures and the fact that the skin tone turned out a lot different from the promo pictures, didn’t help either. So Kobato is no figure for me.

What is your opinion about this figure?

Welcome to Wieselhead‘s personal coverage from the Wonder Festival 2013 summer version, which was held on July 28th. It’s the biggest, most popular event for figure collectors around the world. There are two Wonder Festival each year, once in winter and once in summer.

Also in this year many manufacturers of figures and other anime related goods featured and announced interesting and most of all beautiful figures, most will hopefully (or hopefully not ^^) be available in the upcoming months. Due to the amount of interesting figures the Wonder Festival 2013 summer coverage will be divided in two posts full of bishoujo figures.

In these posts I will talk about the figures, that I considered to be worth mentioning…

I was most impressed by the things from Max Factory, seems like they finally realized their talents next to manufacturing action figures. It’s a remarkable number of nice figures.

Shingeki no Bahamut – Cerberus

This was the first figure of this years Wonderfestival that caught my interest, maybe a top favorite. Fans of demon girls have a nice time recently, first the Seven Deadly Sins and now other demonic beauties. Cerberus has slightly less anime-ish characteristics than other figures, but she still has a beautiful youthful appearance with a cute face, a sexy body and furry hands… furry? ok ;D. I really like how Max Factory adapted this figure from the to me unknown source.

sculptor: no data – release date: no data – scale: no data

Sword Art Online – Asuna

This a surprisingly nice portray of a damsel in distress, Asuna/Titania has a very seductive appearance, it looks totally like Max Factory qualiy, I mean her face is so beautiful and this expression is so detailed. The chained up arms it gives a slightly sadistic touch to the figure.

sculptor: no data – release date: no data – scale: 1/7

Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai – Kashiwazaki Sena / Mikazuki Yozora

More Haganai figures, this time Sena and Yozora in cat ear leotards, I think they would look nice next to the previously released Kobato and Maria. Well, as much as I wished for something like this after the lovely Maria and Kobato in cat costumes, Im not that hyped for it. These two or better said Sena in particular is a little off. Her face appears a bit strangely captured

sculptor: YOSHI – release date: 2014 – scale: 1/7

Sasami-san@Ganbaranai – Yagami Tsurugi

The anime was a bit super strange, but also very funny and with likeable characters. I actually mistook Tsurugi for her younger sister Tama, but ok I don’t favor any of these characters.
The figure is sculpted in a very cute pose and the side ponytail is another nice charm point.
Im already enchanted by the figure and will most likely purchase her when the time comes.

Strike Witches 2 – Francesca Lucchini

The good stuff comes at last, I always wanted a NICE figure of Lucchini, the mischievous and cheerful loli character of the witches. The prototype looks already very cute and portrays the character of Lucchini very well. It will probably be turned into a promising Strike Witch, ahh her machine gun is so huge. Too bad that I sold her bosom buddy Charlotte to someone in Hawaii.

Papa no Iu Koto o Kikinasai! – Takanashi Miu

Miu ≧(´▽｀)≦, Miu is a fine young lady with a sophisticated sense of fashion, I really liked her personality from the anime. The saucy lunatic smile is a bit unique for a young character, it’s like she says “I don’t mind but you’ll get arrested for sure” A bit of improvement here would help her face I think, even though it would be funny to have a loli figure with such an expression.

sculptor: Aketagawa Noboru – release date: 2014 – scale: 1/8

Persona 4: The Ultimate in Mayonaka Arena – Labrys

Im honest, I don’t know whats this about, but it’s cool, the mecha girl characterdesign is totally cool, I like Labrys. The commanding pose and the huge battle axe make this figure even better, I hope the paintjob will bring out my positive image of this figure in the final state, as well.

sculptor: Saitou Fumiki – release date: 2014 no data – scale: 1/8

Nitro Super Sonic – Sonico – 1/7 – Santa, Swimsuit version

A Sonico figure from ALTER, who would have ever expected this any time!? This is a nice figure for sure, half nude, but with a non teased facial expression this is quite a nice change of pace compared to other figures of her, even though her best figures show her in a teased of embarrased state. There are also Sonico figures I don’t like, because of too exaggerated proportions or questionable poses, but let me say this, these hipster Sonico fans who say thing like “that would be the first Sonico I’d ever buy cause the others look cheap”, “if Sonico would have smaller boobs I’d like her” totally annoy me. Accept how Sonico in general is or get lost.

sculptor: Hide, Makio Munetoshi – release date: 2014 – scale: 1/7

Summon Night 3 – Aty

This Game seems to have a really nice characerdesign, even though I never played it. I like how Aty looks her as redhead magician with a fluffy hat and glasses, glasses are the best. The bright blue eyes, her face reminds me of Hattori Hanzo, I wouldn’t have mind if Aty had a slightly more young appearance than this. Anyway the outfit is pretty cool, I love the tight fit dress with the striation design, the belts around her waiste are a nice touch as well as the high boots.
Actually no one would wear these boots in daily life, those are mainly used in red light districts, it’s too bad. All Hail anime fashion, your characters can wear such clothes with attitude.

sculptor: Yagyuu Toshiyuki – release date: 2014 – scale: 1/8

Nisemonogatari – Oshino Shinobu

Wasn’t it a pleasant surprise as the formerly silent Shinobu turned into a naughty, talkactive Vampire wearing an bishoujo summer dress in Nisemonogatari? I love it and now here is a figure of her also wearing a ladylike hat. In gray she already looks nice, I can’t wait until she’s painted.

Nisemonogatari – Senjougahara Hitagi

This appears also like a nice figure from Nisemonogatari. Senjougahara sama is portrayed with her caring yandere side, to keep her boyfriend from doing dangerous exorcistic activities. I like the whole presentation of this figure, sitting on a chair with a piercing look in her eyes.

sculptor: no data – release date: no data – scale: 1/8

Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon II – Asama Tomo

Kotobukiya’s second Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon figure, Tomo is posed in a powerful shooting stance, while her very female curves are accentuated nicely. It’s a nice looking prototype, but still It’s still not my kind of dream figure from the Horizon anime, I want something standing in a more casual fashion. Sometimes I’m just too picky with figures where I know the origin.

sculptor: no data – release date: 2013 – scale: no data

The Idolmaster (TV Animation) – Ganaha Hibiki

I enjoyed Idolm@ster the anime a lot and Hibiki was among my favorite characters next to Haruka. Here the unique style of the show is captures very well, yeah the mouths are big, either you like it or not so much. The clothes of Hibiki are cool, Im a big fan of her heavy duty boots and the hotpants. The energetic pose is another thing I like about this figure of Hibiki.

sculptor: Mazaki Yuusuke – release date: December 2013 – scale: 1/8

Fate/Stay Night – Saber – Pajama version

GK adaption ! Yay! I have a weak spot for Saber in alternative outfits, Saber in pajamas is something unexpectedly cute. She was made several years younger, her vulnerable and shy pose awakens protective instincts ^^. The floating pose can be interpret as dreaming, but I think she needs a bed.

sculptor: Hashimoto Ryou – release date: November 2013 – scale: 1/7

Nitro Super Sonic – Sonico – Mouse version

Sonico with mouse ears, I like it ﾍ(ﾟ∀ﾟ*)ﾉ.I approve of all the changes that were made compared to the source material, the hair is more three dimensional, a better face expression, toned down breast size and an altered pose. The arched back accentuates her well defined butt nicely.

sculptor: no data – release date: no data – scale: no data

Nitro Super Sonic – Sonico – Child version

Making figures of characters as child is a new or maybe very unique idea, child Sonico is based on an illustration from the booklet which was included in the Sonicomi game. Ahh why huge headphones again, you should listen to what your parents say about a healthy diet. Sonico must have old headphones or she’s a cyborg, whatever joking aside it will depend on the pose if I’ll like this or not, her face actually looks adorable, somehow I prefer her grown up though.

sculptor: no data – release date: no data – scale: no data

That’s it for part one of the Wonfes 2013 Summer, I hope there was something in for you, tell me what you liked. If not there will be a part two with more figures.

Today I’ll let down my pants, only in the figurative sense, of course

Inspired by Adam’s Figure Financials posts I decided that I wanted to create something similar by the end of this year. I’m fully aware that a detailed look at the figure expenses of this year might be a shocking experience, but join me and face the ugly truth in this post.

Let’s take a look at the things I’ve bought this year, overall it were 27 figures that I’ve purchased and received this year, 1 less compared to 2011. Since I already sold 2 figures I end up with a number of overall 25 collected figures in 2012, it was one of my goals to stay under 28 figures.

monthly figure expenses

In the diagram below every bar shows what I’ve spent each month, surprisingly I ordered nothing in February and May. With 4 figures, I kind of overdid it in June and October, it were expensive months, but this also partially happened because of unforeseen events. In November I also ordered 4 figures, but these figure were from the aftermarket and comparatively cheap.

I won’t write down the entire sum I’ve spent this year, it would be a too big shock for me XD

manufacturer appointments

It looks like I chose ALTER for most of my purchases, their figures really caught my interest even some older figures from them. Surprisingly GSC, which I really can’t stand or better said it’s the constant hype about their products. Anyway I went out of my way and ordered four of their figures, I really like Sayaka and Shinobu. I also got really nice figures from Max Factory.
For some reason I only ordered 3 (4) Orchid Seed figures, maybe that will change in 2013.

I also tried different companies, that I’ve never bought from before, like Alpha Max, Native, Daiki Kougyou, PLUM, Phat Company and Volks who will relase their Nagisa figure soon. Unlike my bad experience with Griffon, these companies provided solid quality and very good figures.

Shop appointments

new exclusive and old figures comparison

Aside from 15 new figures, I bought 5 Exclusive figures (Sonico – Bath Time version,
Noel Vermillion, Miku Hatsune – Cheerful Japan, the Sonico Nendoroid and Nagisa).
The 7 old figures were Max Factories Tamaki Kousaka and Haruhi Suzumiya Gekisou version, Echidna from Megahouse. From ALTER I ordered the Louise Francoise – school uniform version, Fate/Hollow Ataraxia – Saber Maid R and non R version and Fauna at last.

I spent a lot for the Tamaki figure, but in other cases there were a number of significant price drops at Mandarake and AmiAmi preowned in this year, these prices were so low that I couldn’t resist these figures I always was slightly interested in. Asida from Echidna, who had a stained butt (it wasn’t me XD) I made no bad experiences with these aftermarket figures.

additional costs

When looking a these numbers I’m quite surprised that the custom fees only take ten percent of the spent budget, hehe four times my packages weren’t charged. 17 percent for shipping also appears lower than expected, this year I used more SAL shipping and domestic shipping, when more figures arrive in one month it makes no sense to use EMS for all orders. I used EMS 11 times, SAL 12 times and domestic shipping for local shops was used 4 times.

favorite figures of the year

Ok, enough of these dry statistics lets end this post with my personal favorites of the figures I’ve purchased this year this year.

Bakemonogatari – Oshino Shinobu (Good Smile Company)

This was my first GSC figure that I actually like a lot. The donut eating loli vampire Shinobu from Bakemonogatari was very well recreated in this figure, be it the adorable and cute face, the petite appearance of her body. Also the outfit with the cool motorcycle helmet and the light looking summer dress are also a convincing part of her. While not being sculpted perfectly sharp, the donut bed like base with it’s overload of details is a nice addition to the figure.

Another nice detail is that she can be taken off her base and be placed nearly everywhere.

Ikki Tousen Xtreme Xecutor – Kan’u Unchou (Daiki Kougyou)

I saw, drooled in excitement and ordered ^^. This figure appeared convincing for me from the day she was announced. I like Ikki Toussen quite a bit, but I never bought a figure of it before.

With this figure Daiki came especially close to my image of Kanu. Her powerful fighting pose and the well trained, attractive body were quite appealing. The figure of Kanu has a kinda angry determined face expression, while I prefer cute expressions in general, I was fascinated by the look of this figure. As my first experience with Daiki Kougyou, Im quite satisfied with their work. The sculpting and the painting on clothes and figure turned out very well

Soukou Akki Muramasa – Sansei Muramasa – Maid (Max Factory)

This was quite maid year in terms of figures for me, but Sansei Muramasa throned above all of them. I was interested in her since a certain Wonfes a few years ago. I am totally happy that I was convinced to get her in the end. Her appearance of a grown up and very attractive dark skinned elf is really enchanting. Muramasa has a beautiful face, the eyes are very expressive and also the unique combination of a slightly embarrassed and pouting face expression are nice.

Her dress is lovely with the detailed ruffles and also the color combination of cream white and silky shine black a quite classy, elaborate look is created. The figure also offers a cool looking base with red floor and a pretty table where parts of the included coffee dishes can be placed.

Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai – Takayama Maria (Max Factory)

Im still not a fan the Maria character, but she’s cute loli anyway. As image for the sculpting and painting Max Factory relied on the illustrator of the Novels, Buriki who has a quite unique style.
I really love how the face of this figure was adapted, she has super detailed eyes, blush marks and a cute open mouth with a sharp little fang. This Maria Takayama is a high quality figure with great looking body sculpting and an overall lively and playful appearance.

The dress is a little odd for a figure of a young girl, but is is very well done with pretty gloss and detailed shading effects. With a happy Maria inside the dress actually looks more cute than lewd.

To Heart 2 – Kousaka Tamaki – (Max Factory AquaPlus)

I saw this figure in the past, but in this year I noticed how appealing this figure actually is and was searching on the aftermarket. friend on MFC helped me and so I got my Tamaki Kousaka.

Not a cheap deal, but it was worth every cent. She looks a little different compared to her visual novel and anime origin, but in this case that is nothing bad. On her fluffy, round base Tamaki radiates a romantic, cozy atmosphere what is quite charming in my eyes. The long red hair is pretty, the round face with the big eyes, rosy cheeks and the gentle smile on her mouth is really enchanting. The combination of a quite innocent appearance and an attractive curvy body works very well with this figure. Overall, the sculpting and paintjob of her are really top notch.

I still think that her boobs are too big, but with a cute face like this I accept this “minor” detail ;D

Nitro Super Sonic – Sonico – Bath Time version (Native)

This was my first figure from Native actually, more importantly is that she’s a huge 1/6 scaled Sonico. I liked the creativity of pose and base a lot, these three little bathing friends are really cute accessories. The figure also has a very detailed and convincing face expression. I also like that they added more meat to this sculpt of Sonico like the Tsuji Santa artstyle always implies.

The figure can be displayed naked, not to the extent of most Native figures, but in my opinion she looks best with one of her towels applied.Minor flaws are too faint blush marks and a not that sexy looking butt, but nevertheless she is without question one of the best Sonico figures so far with the Sonico – Bondage version from Orchid Seed following close afterwards.

Senran Kagura – Hibari (Phat Company)

I was quite happy as the cute GK of Hibari was quickly adapted to be turned into a PVC figure.
I didn’t had that much trust into Phat Company to begin with. But after unpacking her I was very much delighted, she looked very well done and came without major flaws. I love the cheerful face of Hibari with her flower eyes and the happy open mouth. I also liked her busty schoolgirl appearance dressed up in cute sportswear, like the jersey and the short bloomers that accentuates her meaty thighs. Her loose socks and the shoes are also a very cool detail.

Since I awaited this figure from Phat Company with lowered expectations my joy about her very good quality and looks were kinda amplified and Im still very happy about her purchase.

Do you have favorite figures from the ones you’ve bought?

Final Words

So far I always planned my purchases on a monthly basis, so that I won’t overstep my budget, in this post it was interesting to take a look at the overall purchases of my figure hobby in this year. It appears like a lot of money and it probably is, but the truth is that there were more nice and pretty figures that I wanted to get n 2012, but I wanted to show at least a little retention.

Next year will be full of nice figures as well and I already preordered a few things, but lets see what and how many figures I will add to my next orders.

And you, Do you take a look back at your purchases and expenses of this year?

I there anyone who spent more? please let me know.

Today I will show you a figure of Maria Takayama from the very nice anime Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai.
Maria Takayama was manufactured by Max Factory and released in the end of August 2012. The figure is scaled 1/7 scaled and has a kneeling height of 130 mm. actually she seems more like a 1/6 figure, but such loli characters always have bigger heads, so maybe it’s just my imagination.
Maria is actually supposed to be displayed with a figure of Kobato, her rival in getting the attention of Kodaka. I didn’t order this one for certain reasons I will mention later in the review.

Hello Nyan – san, today I will show you a figure of an under aged girl in a leotard suit *cough*.

What!? Who said lolicon, I’ll sue you right away! ^o^

Back to topic here is Maria Takayama from the very nice anime Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai.

The decision of ordering her wasn’t based on my liking for the character. Maria is a ten year old nun and actually one of the lesser important side characters. She is portrayed as a very gullible kid with a liking for snacks. She got in contact with the other characters when she was tricked by Yozora to be the supervising teacher of the Neighbours Club which is the meeting ground for it’s members. Maria is most attached to Kobato’s brother Kodaka in a sibling like way.

I’ve heard about a second season, so maybe Maria will get some development or even a slightly bigger role. Anyway my liking for the character aside I was enchanted by the cute look of this figure and the style of the artist Buriki, who draw the illustration this figure is based on and also the illustrations for the Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai Light Novel. He is a very talented illustrator and I love the way he draws the faces of his characters in a very appealing fashion.

Hair & Face

Maria has beautiful light purple hair, it is slightly transparent and has a pearl effect metallic gloss to it, the sculpting of the strands looks beautiful and the details are very well crafted overall.

Maria’s face captures a very cute and playful expression; it’s just adorable and makes me happy to look at her. Considering the level of detail of her face you actually think this is a figure 2.0 which puts the faces of other nice figures to shame. The look from the illustration has been recreated carefully, and the very detailed, shiny eyes give the figure a lifelike appearance.

There is a deeply sculpted mouth with nice dark shading at the insides and a cute little white fang. Other facial details like eyelashes, eyebrows and blush marks were carefully applied, which creates a great level of detail. Compared to other figures from Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai, who rather were created after the anime look, Maria with her close resemblance of the Light Novel illustrations is on a completely different level. It would be cool if Max factory would make more figures from this franchise, a nice Sena and Yozora would be very welcome.

Body & Outfit

Yeah it can’t be denied that Maria has a loli like body since she’s just 10 years ols. Yet her body is not completely undeveloped though, she has a slightly endowed pelvis and a little bit more around her chest than you would expect. The suit is pretty tight around her buttocks and crotch.

The figure doesn’t have the nun outfit from the anime, it’s the outfit Maria is wearing in a certain illustration. I might sound contradictory but I really don’t think that this outfit is appropriate for a girl of her age. This figure would have looked great in a more casual outfit as well. Anyway Maria is dressed in a tight, bright blue and shiny leotard suit an alternate version of a bunny suit.

She has a cat ear hairband with a cute ribbon on the left, also the furry parts in the ears are nice. At the back she has a tail. Underneath her dress she is wearing a light purple pantyhose, Maria even has high heeled pumps. The paintjob looks quite luxury, the blue suit has nice shading and most of her outfit has a shiny top coat; her blue dress is exceptionally shiny. The figure looks great with all the different textures, the shiny clothes; the pearl effect hair and the matte skin.

The reason why I didn’t buy Kobato was her face expression; it was kinda too sexy in a wrong for my taste. Well, she has the same dress as Maria, but I could justify Maria’s purchase because of her innocent and cute overall appearance, had too much doubts about Kobato in the end. Mmmh maybe I should have bought her nevertheless, she’s actually very pretty.

Pose & Base

Maria has still a nice size even in this compact pose, which is supported by her knees and tips of her feet, she actually has a very well balanced stand and won’t fell over that easily. Her head is slightly tilted which gives the figure an even cuter and lively appearance. One hand is playfully turned into a cat paw pose, while the index finger of her other hand touches her cheek.

The base is a very shiny chess patterned disk, the squares have been painted accurately and the figure looks nice on it. But you could also place her somewhere else.

Final Words

Yeah what should I say, this Maria Takayama from Max Factory is an exelant figure, she offers luxurious sculpting and painting quality. Maria is really enchanting, her cuteness and the great recreation of Buriki’s artstyle, are the big points that make this figure something special. Quality wise she is one of the best made figures that I received in this year and also one of the cutest.

The outfit might be bit questionable, but I only see Maria with my moe goggles, she looks totally adorable no matter what. If you don’t completely despise figures that are based on loli characters I would wholeheartly recommend this figure, she’s fantastic and without any flaws.

I was one of the few who only bought Maria and not the Kobato figure to complete the set of these cuties. Maybe I should have gotten her maybe not. I’ll decide about that a later time.

Hi there I wanted to show you, which anime from the Fallseason of 2011 made it into my current watchlist and I also like to share my impressions about them, I will split this topic into two post, cause I haven’t found the motivation to write about all the shows at once. In part a I will talk about Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai, Fate/Zero, Gundam AGE and Tamayura: Hitotose.

Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai

This great show is a comedy about making friends, it was made by studio AIC build who made such horrible things like Ore no Imouto ga Konnani Kawaii Wake ga Nai (haha I know how to make friends). Kodaka and Yozora are bad with making friends, and decide to make a club called The Neighbours’ Club, this club is ought to be for people without many friends. Like in Ore no Imouto ga Konnani Kawaii Wake ga Nai we have female characters that aren’t the cute and kind beings which we know from other anime, they are strong, quick witted characters with edges, but unlike Kirino they are no spoiled and annoying bitches XD
httpvh://youtu.be/q00Cpq4bSDg

Kodaka is considered as an delinquent because of his natural blonde hair, Yozora comes off as coldhearted and rude and Sena, well she’s popular with the boys for 2 plump reasons ;D, but she does not want such superficial friends especially not of the opposite gender. These are the club members in the first few episodes, judging from the opening more people will become members of the neighbour’s club. Yozora and Sena treat Kodaka in a normal way, but the two girls don’t really like eachother, I would say Yozora is the mean one in their relationship. Together the club members are doing quite entertaining club activities, even though the anime is not entirely used for comedy. Its also a good change that our male main character is no wimp unlike in most other shows of that kind. He also has a very cute goth loli sister ^-^ On a sidenote, it’s funny how AIC can reproduce the look of Shaft’s Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko so well, as far as I know the origin materials for both shows were illustrated by the same person. It doesn’t matter with studio had animated this show, the environmen and the characterdesign is very pretty and appealing.

Fate/Zero

After the Fate /Stay night anime adaption from 2006 and the Unlimited Blade Works movie from 2010, there is another anime adaption from probably one of the most awesome franchises out there. Fanboy? Yes, without Fail, I love this setting and Im happy that there is a new adaption of it now. The story takes place before the grail war of Fate/Stay night. Because of a different production team it appears darker and more mature than the previous storys with Shirou Emiya.
httpvh://youtu.be/ClOcpGVw08M

In case you slightly remember what happened during Fate/Stay night you might guess who will survive this holy grail war and who will not, but I try not to think too much about it, well but its also interesting to learn about the backgrounds of Fate and the different characters.
So far Fate/Zero left a very good impression, story and the characters are very well done and interesting. Masters as well as the servants have interesting personalities, even though the servants are a lot more likeable, none of the masters so far would get a sympathy award from me, everyone of them appears like he would sell their own children to get closer to get the grail. Most of them also use quite underhanded methods in this Grail War, so far I wouldn’t feel sorry for anyone of them. Ok, I guess I would feel sorry for Waver and temporary master Iriesveil.

Do you have a favorite Servant so far?

Well, Saber is Saber, but aside from that I like the snotty Gilgamesh and Rider is just awesome.
The animation quality looks very cool and the action scenes are staged very enthralling and appealing, the only downside of F-zero is, that you have to wait one week for a new episode.
Fate/Zero will be aired in two 13 episode long seasons, season two will be aired in April 2012.

Mobile Suit Gundam AGE

video wasn't availabe, thx Bandai Channel ^^

This is another anime from Gundam franchise, it feels like a mix of Battlestar Galactica and the older Gundam stuff. In A.G. 101 mankind lives peacefully on huge space colonies someday the colonies are attacked by unidentified Mechs called “Gafran“, the defence of the colony doesn’t work against the enemies, but fortunately attacks of the Gafran rarely occur. A survivor of the destroyed colony “Ovan” is main character Flit, a 13 year old boy who is a descendant of a family of famous mobile suit engineers. Flit is also a talented engineer and just finished his first Prototype, from the blueprints that his passed away mother gave him, a Gundam. When the Gafran attack the colony “Nora” Flit has to use his lightly equipped Gundam. With his advanced machine he was able to beat the small first wave of attackers, but the colony is already seriously damaged and lost. The people have to be evacuated with the help of the new battleship.

Some people said, that Gundam Ageis anime for kids, well there are three young teenagers in the cast. The setting itself seems to be quite interesting and promising, also the action scenes and animations are very good, so far I’ve enjoyed every episode.

Guilty Crown

In the near future a virus wiped out a part of the japanese population, the multi – national organization GHQ came to the rescue and stopped the virus, but in fact they just occupied Japan and now rule it with an iron fist. The wimp Shu is the main character of this story, when he came in contact with Inori, from the resistance group Undertaker his life changed dramatically.
httpvh://youtu.be/6cXknAXJap0

He accidently came in contact with a substance, that he transported for Undertaker, which was ought to be used by their leader. Now Shu is stronger and also can extract weapons from people of a certain age. Shu helps the resistance group in two missions, but he rather wants to live his safe and peaceful life, but he can’t step out any more, there’s no turning back. The pretty Inori transfers to his school and makes herself a home at his apartment, to protect him from GHQ.

Guilty Crown has a great, visually appealing animation style, there are great action scenes and super pretty girls ^^. The the plot seems to be a good shounen story, even though some people might have expected a more epic story without school comedy moments, but I like most of this show and will keep watching it. This show will have 22 episodes, might turn out quite good.

Tamayura: Hitotose

After the 4 very nice Tamayura Ova’s, a whole anime of Tamayura was adapted, you should have watched the Ova’s before watching the anime. The story centers around Potte, a passionate amateur photographer, her family and her friends. Some years ago the father of Potte died, after that sad event his wife moved to the seto islands along with Potte and her small brother Kou.

Looking through old photo albums always made Potte sad, because they reminded her of her passed away dad. As she noticed how her little brother happily looked through the albums, Potte realised that these old pictures are no sad memories at all, in fact they are memories of happy times, which they had with her dad. This experience made Potte interested in photography again.
httpvh://youtu.be/POPgKpvwdok

Now she also wants to capture happy memories and the magic of the moment with her pictures. She uses the old analog camera, Rollei 35S from her passed away father. Potte is a bit clumsy, but she makes up for it with her motivation and enthusiasm when taking pictures.

Tamayura is a slow paced slice of life show about the small happy things in life. It has a lot of likeable characters, like Potte’s three friends, Kaoru, Norie and Maon or the owner of the camera shop. With it’s nice animation style, the nice surrounding of seto islands and the moe look of the characters, the show creates a heartwarming and cozy atmosphere, I really love this anime.

Thx for your attention, do you have any shows you like to watch in Fall 2011 or was there a title which already caused some dissapointment in you? Just let me know.
Maybe I could make you interested in the one or the show, in case you aren’t already watching everything. in part b I will write about five more shows from this Fall Season 2011, stay tuned ^^
