Once again Otaking lend me some help and advise about the text for this review, I’m quite grateful about the help.

I probably haven’t logged into my Kancolle account since 3 years, but I have fond memories of the time where I played actively and took care of the adorable ships girls. Too bad that I was forced to use an VPN every time I wanted to play.

Today I will show you one of my older grails that I always wanted since it’s release. I recently purchased this Kouwan Seiki, She is also known as Harbour Princess from the Kancolle game. This figure was manufactured by Max Factory and released in 2017. She’s been sculpted by Akimof and is scaled 1/8 with measures 155 mm in height.
On release her price was around 18.000 yen, which still was a lot at that time.

The figure is also part of the Wonderful Hobby Selection line of Max Factory. In 2016 I received the Sorceress from the WHS line which was a bad joke partially. The figure of course looked great, but arrived with a broken peg that prevented me from setting up the figure, Max Factory was kind enough to send a spare part, but that also arrived broken … .

That experience actually prevented me from preordering. You can probably imagine how I felt when I opened that figures package earlier this year, but fortunately everything was fine and without flaw.

Kantai Collection is not at its prime days anymore, nevertheless the character design hasn’t lost it’s appeal. Kantai Collection has been a super popular gatcha game that convinced figure manufacturers that gatcha game characters attract more customers than purely anime based characters.

If anyone of you wonders about the sparkles in the pictures background, it is a polycarbonate board with sculpted water droplets on the surface, with the right amount of DOF (depth of field) and light it creates a lovely bokeh.
To match the figures partially eerie atmosphere I decided for purple as main color. As flooring I used a small white carpet and spread some bigger and smaller rocks above, to create some ocean bottom. I thought that the fishing net would be a matching addition to the set.

Coming up with a stage has always been kind of a challenge, compared to earlier years figure photography became more challenging and ambitious. I think I became a little bad recipient, it’s really frustrating. Some fellow figure photographers invest an immense amount of work to create diorama like settings, it’s amazing! I always see myself debating about how much work I want to invest in a figures set and if it is worth the effort.

Figures of antagonists are generally a rare event, except they are especially remarkable. Kancolle has cool designs, also for the Abyssals that were turned into figures, like Kuubo Wo-kyuu or Senkan Re-kyuu, Kouwan Seiki convinced me the most.

Since then the gatcha game character based figures keep growing in numbers. As anime enthusiast this trend is regrettable for me, since less figures based on anime are made, but it can’t be helped these days.

Harbour Princess is a pretty figure with her ghost like white skin, the huge claws and pointy horn on the forehead, she is obviously a monster, but a cute one. The character design of Harbour Princess has been illustrated by Akira (アキラ)

Her shy and vulnerable expression are anything less than adorable. I really like the heavy eylashes design, they are even sculpted and not just lines from a brush, I’m also a big fan of the dramatic makeup anyway. The long hair is nicely done, it has smooth looking long strands and a cutely cut bangs. Her red eyes are very pretty and mesmerizing.

Haurbour Princess is dressed in something called “virgin killer sweater” which was a popular meme some years ago. The outfit has some dark grey weathering, living in the vast ocean surely has a few disadvantages for the Abyssal’s. Furthermore the sweaters vertical creases accentuate the characters dynamite body with the ample bosom, thin waist and quite wide hips. The sweater is also equipped with decorative black armor pieces, the style and pattern looks very interesting and pretty. As shoes she has some kind of kneesock boots with black sole.

Part of her outfit are also the separate sleeves, they have the same vertical creases as the sweater and those pretty black armoir bits, because of her big hands the sleeves have a huge opening, the mechanical claws have a nice roughed up look and intimidating design. Kouwan Seiki is portrayed as mature character with a well endowed and attractive body. Obviously, she also has nicely sculpted big boobs, the outfit also reveals a bit of sideboob which is a little bit risky, but nothing when compared to the shameless hotties from Azure Lane. The figure has really nice thighs.

The figure has been put in a kneeling pose, encircled by a muddy looking base, that intentionally shows traces of wear and destruction painted in shades of black and rusty brown. She is holding onto the remaining pieces of her once proud airfield. I like the tiny particles that have been applied on the runway, they give the illusion of glowing sparks.

Next to the main figure, sits the runway monster with its huge jaw, compared to Kouwan Seiki that is a really nasty monster with teeth and grey tongue.

Final Words

I like the figure a lot, she looks great and has an unique design, a bishoujo monster girl is something I didn’t have in my collection so far. It’s a great design with the dramatic makeup and the overall visual presentation is very well done. Is this figure worth the Wonderful Hobby Selection tag? I have a specific opinion about it.

Max Factory figures are already well done in general. WHS should bring something more. I think that the WHS manufacturing quality is not outstanding enough to justify it. A label like WHS should indicate the highest level of craftsmanship, and I don’t see this big difference on Kouwan Seiki and I definitely didn’t saw it at the Sorceress figure. They both had problems that take away from the overall quality. Nevertheless I’m really happy to have the Kouwan Seiki WHS in my collection now.

Today, I will present you a newU Preorder post. Uhh, what has the Figure Hobby turned into, it is more expensive than ever before, release dates became unreliable and updated dates are pushed around more regularly than ever.

Although with all those negative aspects one can not complain about the lack of beautiful figures.

Rikka Takarada – I Believe in Future from GSC

From the SSSS Gridman show that I liked just a little bit, main heroine Rikka appears in an nice pose with parts of the base flying around her. The cute expression aside this figure is a rather ecchi creation, some will like it some won’t.

The figures proportions seems to be more inspired by pixiv artworks than how the girl looked in the anime, but that is fine since I love nicely shaped thighs like that. There aren’t many figures around with such voluminous thighs and I really like the figures expression, so I would be very happy to order the figure here. She is scheduled to be released 2021, that is for sure a long time, but I would not have to worry too much about expenses for 2020.

Chino – Summer Uniform from PLUM

Plum just makes the best figures of young girl characters and this Chino could be easily one of their best.
The sculpt and overall presentation are so enchanting, everything about her is just so sweet and happy.
Her summer uniform accentuates her cuteness once more and everything looks quite lively.
I think from all the figures listed in the post her preorder will be set by me soon.

Hurdle Girl Illustration from Skytube

An figure adaptation based on a character drawn by Kekemotsu, the color palette is strong, the bold yellow jacket for example is striking. I approve about hurdle running in a black bikini and I also really appreciate that they combined the rather daring outfit with a very sweet facial expression and the golden eyes are beautiful. It seems to be a pretty figure of a nice, sweet girl in a skimpy outfit and a great looking butt.

ARMS NOTE Kouhai-chan of the Swimming Club from AMAKUNI

I would really appreciate it if AMAKUNI would start giving bigger promo pictures to the shops, it’s just so tiny!

Ahem, while I don’t know a lot about ARMS NOTE, this stunning figures positive aura is contagious, really love the golden eyes and the happy fang. The tan suits the figure very well, especially in combination with the blue sports bikini.

Kantai Collection Suzuya [Xmas]mode from AMAKUNI

I forgot about Kancolle to be honest, still remember the characters that were dear to me, but I only play Azure Lane nowadays. Nevertheless this Suzuya figure is especially pretty in the nicely textured red christmas dress, the exposed shoulders and overknee black santa boots.

Ore o Suki nano wa Omae dakekayo – Sanshokuin Sumireko from Aniplex, Aquamarine

Her anime is on my “going to watch” list, but I really know nothing about this character. Nevertheless her figure appears to be very nonchalant and attractive, also her pose looks cool. The alternative top looks very interesting together with this school uniform, I really like the long skirt version in blue.

Teletha Testarossa: Maid version from Phat Company

In 2018, 13 years later FMP received a new season, not as great as I wanted it to be, you can’t just use content from 13 years ago and expect people to be all excited about a so so adaptation that ended with a cliffhanger. I did finish the light novel because of it and at least Tessa got 3 more figures because of it, but I think this one was the nicest.

Iya na Kao Sarenagara Opantsu Misetemoraitai Hon Chitose Itou STD version from Alphamax

The angry panty flashing girls are surprisingly popular and this character even got the second adaptation. doing something you don’t like, but still doing it nevertheless is a weird fetish. Anyway a scornful maid is somewhat interesting. There are 2 versions available, one with castoff option and one without, in any case you get the 2 faces, one that shows you even more disgust, you swine!

Asuka Soryu Langley -Gothic Lolita Ver.- :Re from Kotobukiya

This figure is apparently a reissue from a figure first time released in 2004, the new Asuka figure has a nicer anime style face and a few more smaller differences made, I really like the base with the stairs, the gothic lolita dress is nice anyway.

Sansei Muramasa – Character’s Selection from Rocket Boy

I really like Sansei Muramasa, but this here is the tainted love version apparently, bondage, chain around the neck, it’s all quite kinky. The figure has an alternative face plate and alternative hip part. I’m really not sure about purchasing this figure, it’s a bit too erotic and display in the open might be interesting.

I know the origin of the figure and while most visual novels have sexual scenes, but Soukou Akki Muramasa is very grim and not vanilla. Still seems to be a great looking figure just not really my cup of tea.

And now I will show you my latest preorders concerning 2020. The ambitious plan is to order only 8 new figures in 2020, delayed figures doesn’t count at this. I admit with those delays together it looks like I lost control ahahaha.

Asuka Langley – RADIO EVA Original Color

A quite nice figure adaptation of Asuka. There are 2 color variations of this Asuka figure, I decided to get the less saturated one.

Lacia – Black Monolith Deployed version

I’m outing myself … as fan of the Beatles anime, a big reason was the charming Lacia voiced by Touyama, Nao. The figure doesn’t show Lacia’s pretty smile but at least she looks like from the anime. I decided against the cheaper version, I rather want the cool one haha.

Takimoto Hifumi – Witch version

Ummm, why did I buy a figure of Hifumi, I think it’s a very cute figure with the breezy witch outfit and the gigantic hat.

Juliana Eberhardt

I became quite a fan of the odd Raita design, while the body proportions look something special, I’m really addicted to great faces Raita creates. Great coincidence that I also love summer and bikinis, Phat Company also announced a figure of the more friendly looking Riela Marcellis. I will definitely order her, too.

Matoi – Nidy-2D version

The nidy version is so adorable I decided to watch a few episodes of the anime Phantasy Star Online 2 – Episode Oracle, before I would order this Matoi, unfortunately also there she is a cute angel, although she didn’t wear this great outfit so far.

In February 2016, I’ve reviewed the Shigure Kai Ni version, that focused on the character as warrior. Kancolle figures are generally bristling with guns and equipment for naval warfare, but this Shigure has none of such things.

Like the name implies, the Shigure – casual version is portrayed on her day off, she is wearing her winter school uniform with a jacket over it to match the autumn theme.  The Shigure – casual version was released in August 2018 and manufactured by GSC. The figure is scaled 1/8 and more or less based on an illustration that was in the Nyantype magazine from November 2016, sculptor Yuukoon had a bit of artistic freedom and turned it into a very nice figure.

Although the figure measures only 21 cm her portrayal and appearance are very expressive and nearly iconic. Shigure is very photogenic, she looks like right out of an outdoor shooting from a fashion magazine. Shigure is leaning on a fence, one you would see in a nature related park. She and the fence are attached on a round brown base, it has an appealing stone like texture, half of the base is covered by a cluster of as well as separate ginkgo tree leaves.

Shigure’s hair looks beautiful, it accurately follows her official character design with huge ahoge and the “dog ears”, it shows sharp contours and has a fluffy look at the same time. On the left side of her head is a nice hair ornament.

At 1/8 scale she apparently has a small head, but the figure has a very detailed face nevertheless. Shigure has beautiful blue eyes, the optional red framed glasses give Shigure a mature and also smart appearance, without them her face looks a bit “naked”. Her cheeks show some subtle blush and the slightly open mouth is cute.

The clothes of this Shigure are what you would consider casual, still many elements of a school uniform are present, although a casual look has been created. The jacket is quite nice, it looks cool how Shigure has one hand in the side pocket. Her red loosened up necktie is nice to look at. The very pretty square patterned skirt might be piece that isn’t looking like part of a school uniform. Overall the clothes look great and are nicely sculpted I like how the clothes follow the bodylines tightly and how the slender but attractive body is accentuated.

The figure is designed in a way that you could display her without skirt, wearing her black panties, but I thought it would be rather weird to only wear panties in the park. Her legwear consists of black kneesocks and brown loafers.

With the added items like bag and a retro camera around her neck, she could pass as a student of photography.

Because of her size Shigure might appear like a simple figure, but she isn’t. The pose were Shigure is leaning on the fence in an expressive way shows great articulation. I really like how her left hand touches the glasses frame with her hand, that said fingers and frame doesn’t align that well, there is 1-2 mm distance, maybe I was too dumb to get it in the correct position.

Final Words

This was my th review of a Kantai Collection figure, I really like my Shigure – casual version figure, that shows a different approach on the origin she is based on. It’s very nice to see one of the Kantai Collection characters in a different context than with weapons and machine parts, after all the character designs from the game are enchanting.

The appearance of this figure is rather mature. In this adaption Shigure is not brimming with a smile, of course her character is actually not the upbeat type. Here she wears a serious and yes, a somewhat blank expression. I think it fits the overall style of the figure. The figure has a cool pose a pretty looking outfit and an appealing base.

Good Smile Company planned a few more figures of Kantai Collection characters with a casual  look, tagged as “Shopping Mode”. These figures are based on Kaga, Haruna and Kashima.

Yuudachi is based on Kantai Collection ~Kan Colle~ the once extremely popular browser game, it’s been a while since I’ve played, I honestly miss seeing and hearing all my cute shipgirls, but the game concept is so frustrating, starting from the login and going to the endless task of leveling up and always these long repair times after another failed map.

GSC created a wonderful figure of Yuudachi in her Kai Ni version, she was sculpted by Urakawa Akinori following an illustration of Kujou Ichiso. Yuudachi Kai Ni is scaled 1/8 and measures 22cm, I’ve purchased her for 12,980.00 JPY.

Yuudachi has a very cute face with detailed red eyes and a confident smirk. Overall she a a great and attractive expression. She has faint blonde hair, at the sides of her hair are flaps and wildly flowing strands placed further below with an orange gradient effect at the tips. On top of her head she wears a cute, small, black ribbon.

Yuudachi is actually just a Destroyer ship, the smallest type within a fleet, nevertheless her figure is combined with a big amount of parts. She has a really huge backpack that consist of one funnel with the decorative sail and red propeller, the backpack also carries her gun installations. The detailed guns can be rotated and elevated. At her legs the figure wears her torpedo launchers, on a closer look you see that the torpedoes Yuudachi is holding have funny faces.

The figure of Yuudachi is truly amazing, she is one of the more dynamic Kancolle figures, her pose indicatetes speed and agility and the girl really looks like she is having fun, the nicely made flame parts make her base look more attractive and underline the figures powerful pose. I guess Yuudachi is my favorite from all the Kancolle figures so far.

In the anime Yuudachi started as random Destroyer girl, cheerful and cute, but a rather bad student. After noticing how hard Fubuki tried to improve, she also wanted to get stronger, in the end she showed even more talent than the girl she admired all the time and became Yuudachi Kai Ni.

“I’ll show you the nightmare of Solomon” So lets have a short history lesson, but remember war is always a bad thing. Yuudachi is also referred to as Salomon no Akuma because of her historical counterpart.

In November 13th 1942 a group of the IJN fleet headed out to retake Guadalcanal, because of bad sight the IJN fleet and US fleet were on collision course and started engaging each other in close combat. Close quarter battles especially in he middle of the night are very dangerous for any ships, even with all the armaments, warships are actually very vulnerable under fire. Yuudachi was the first in the IJN fleets formation to break the enemy lines.

in between the US group Yuudachi fired everything at her disposal, creating confusion and damage on all the ships around her. With her fleets assistance Yuudachi actively sunk three ships, at the end of the battle she was damaged and unable to move, but really, most of the crew could be rescued by Samidare. Yuudachi’s actions prevented the IJN fleet from a disaster at least on that day. After the 40 minute long battle ended, the US group have been reduced to 2 remaining fully operateable ships, the chaotic close quarter combat proved that the ships of the IJN were actually really well made, but wasted in a war that never could have been won. Individual achievements, such as Yuudachi’s are quite rare in naval warfare. The other ships portrayed in Kancolle can’t really compete with Yuudachi’s war story.

It’s funny though that her “poi” which means something like “maybe” is related to rumors that other ships maybe should receive the credit partially. Anyway I actually don’t care about that, in the end or better said in her Kantai Collection fiction Yuudachi is a friendly and cheerful ship and it made this especially great looking figure possible.

Yuudachi is the second figure adaption of a Kancolle Shiratsuyu-class ship, the first one was Shigure, she also is a very nice figure, but compared to this exciting Yuudachi figure she is kind of plain, do you know how difficult it is to combine two figures in a picture, these two really gave me a hard time, their bases made it nearly impossible.

Final words

Yuudachi turned out very nice with her cute appearance and pretty black uniform, she is one of the prettiest Kancolle ship girl figures and unchallenged in terms of dynamic appearance, her standing one one leg and pushing forward in a bold manner pose looks cool and is articulated very well. The big mechanical backpack and surrounding flames the whole figure has an impressive, powerful look. Her figure is elaborately sculpted and extremely detailed, because of that some parts are really thin and the figure should be handled with care. Since the figure demands a bit of assembly work, I was a bit worried to break something, but everything fits neatly together.

In late summer I got myself a wonderful Ichiban Kuji prize figure based on Kancolle, it was manufactured by Banpresto. It’s called Yamato – mizugi mode. It is a premium A prize figure.

In general prize figures are affordable compared to regular figures, though somehow this figure appeared for a heavy prize in several big stores. I got mine for around 13.000 Yen.

…Yeah I know, but when I saw these lovely product pictures I could not resist.

The origin of the figure is the always popular browser game Kantai Collection aka ~Kan Colle~.
In the game, Yamato represents the famous Japanese battleship from the WWII era. The Yamato was an ambitious project, in order to build the biggest and technically advanced battleship. It was mainly a prestige Symbol, before the end of the war, the Yamato didn’t take an active role that would risk the ship. She was often just docked in harbors and used as living quarters and the ship had more luxury interior compared to other ships, the ship received a funny nickname because of that. Yamato also had it’s own Ramune (ラムネ) factory inside.

The Yamato is very special thing for many Japanese citizens, even considering that the ship did not take part part in any big battle, aside from her last mission, which was simply an useless attempt. Still Yamato remained a symbol of hope and readiness to make sacrifices, also in modern media as “uchuu senkan yamato”, where the ship was the last hope of mankind.

When playing Kancolle I randomly get upset to know what really happened to these “shipgirls” in reality. Of course since Japan had a questionable role during WWII, the strangely positive glorification of the ships feels slightly awkward, because the reasoning behind Japan’s expansionary policy was wrong and the japanese navy wasn’t all that smart. Coming to terms with the past is not easy for any country, be it the victors nation or the losing nation. I often have the feeling that Japan feels honest remorse for their deeds during WWII, but on the other hand with shrines that are used for glorification of the military regime and war museums that don’t portray any atrocities, leaves a bitter aftertaste to Japan’s coming to terms with the past.

Since we talked a whole lot about WWII in school, I was thinking Germany did an exemplary good job in coming to terms with the past, but when I see the News recently, I have the feeling that all the efforts made by the state still don’t reach everyone.

Kancolle is not amoral, it mainly is a cheerful game with cute girls that are intentionally based on old ships. But the attitude of trivializing historical events is always a questionable thing.

Her dedicated anime episode in Kancolle did a good job with portraying her character in a fitting way, Yamato is a tall girl with dignified elegance in terms of appearance and attitude, she is also portrayed as a really sweet girl with a friendly personality. The anime staff made a bit of fun of her, with showing her serving first class food and calling her a hotel.

The figures outfit is based on the Seasonal Summer 2016 event from Kancolle.

Yamato wears a bikini in white and red colors with black stripes, that doesn’t reveal too much. It is a decent beach outfit. The top supports her main artillery in a gentle way. At the hips she has a pareo wrapped around her. It has one red and a transparent layer and underneath she wears a white bikini bottom. It is closed with a little anchor, it’s a nice little detail as well as the small garter around her left leg with a small life belt attached to it. The paintjob on her bikini top is a bit rough, the other areas are passable.

Final words

I really like this Yamato – mizugi mode figure, this adaption turned out very cute.
Her rather big  size and the standing pose give her a beautiful and graceful atmosphere.
The pretty and long hair looks quite nice on her also with a little roughness at the edges.

The umbrella is a cool accessory, I like how it increases Yamato’s ladylike presentation. Her cute face, articulation and the sculpting of Yamato’s body are really great. On first look she doesn’t give me the impression of a prize figure, but nevertheless, a few minor things that could be slightly better are there, it mainly concerns the open mouth which could have been sculpted a little sharper and the base, on my copy is a bit uneven underneath, one side is 2 – 3 mm higher and therefore it shakes a bit.

After Shigure Kai which was covered in a previous post on this blog, it didn’t took long for her “classmate” Yuudachi to be officially presented by GSC. The “Nightmare from the Salomons” looks absolutely stunning with her confident pose and expression ready for battle. Aside from looking cool with her detailed mechanical backpack , Yuudachi still shows lots of cuteness.

Natsu no Kemono – Chitose – Character’s Selection

manufacturer: Rocket Boy, Native – scale: 1/6 – release: june 2016

I couldn’t resist to place an order for this darling (⁄ ⁄^⁄ᗨ⁄^⁄ ⁄). She obviously has her naughty bits and details, but she also creates this sweet and romantic atmosphere around her. This lovely facial expression is just marvelous. I also love her soft skin look and her butt is terrific.

THE IDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls – Riina Tada

I ordered Idolmaster Cinderella Girls figures before the anime got popular, I honestly tried to ignore the anime when it aired. Recently I just watched both seasons and surprisingly my enjoyment was very, very high and many characters grow on me. Soon I started noticing the figure adaptions, too. The figure of Tadaa Rina is the first one that I find extremely appealing.

I liked the group of her and Miku a lot, there is also a Miku figure matching Riina’s visual style, but her priority is less high for me. Riina looks super cute and also will come with an e-guitar.

Strike Witches – Charlotte E. Yeager Bunny style

Useless 10bit video releases prevented me from watching the latest Strike Witches animation, but whatever. The figure of Charlotte looks adorable with cap and bunny suit combination.

The friendly face, her ample busom and alternative hand options are nice, she has rather detailed fingers. Until Miette-chan reviewed a figure made by Aquamarine, I had no real opinion regarding their quality before, but apparently their latest figures are good quality.

Kantai Collection -Kan Colle- Akitsushima

I’m not familiar with this relatively new ship from Kancolle, but damn I love her design. Akitsushima is a very cute girl with a lively personality. Her face is appealing as well; purple eyes and a pretty smile. The nicely designed uniform, but also her mechanical ship parts look cool and interesting. It’s also really cute how she carries the big plane around gently.

I like that this figure of Kaede has the appearance and charm of a real lady, a young lady ;D Oh my! her face and make up look so gorgeous. Her outfit might be simple from a certain standpoint, in my eyes it really got class and suits the attractive Kaede in a casual manner.

Super Sonico with Macaron Tower

That is a super adorable Sonico figure, a sweet face which shows her love for macarons ;D
She is wearing an extremely cute, nice pastel colored, frilly bikini. Also her curvy and buxom body appears to be nicely portrayed in this figure adaption. I already have a number of cute Sonico figures, so I rather feel like not getting this one.

Love Live! School Idol Festival – Nozomi Tojo

I doubt that we will see a nicer figure adaption of Nozomi, ALTER makes stunning Love Live! School Idol Festival figure. Nozomi wears a spectacular and elaborately designed costume, it also ccompliments her womanly body. I’m not sure if the closed eye was a good design idea,, I would be happier with both of her pretty eyes opened.

Some weeks ago, the wonderful Shigure figure from Good Smile Company arrived. Shigure is from the browser game Kantei Collection, where she is a special Destroyer girl. After Kongou and also I-168 from Max Factory, Shigure is my third Kancolle figure, certainly not the last. Shigure is one of my favorite ship girls in my fleet and in the game I take good care of her.

A little WWII Trivia, the historical ship Shigure was considered to be a lucky ship, after she survived two mayor naval battles nearly undamaged while everyone else was destroyed.
The japanese navy did not perform that succesfully in the last two years of the war. I left my military interest in the past and Kancolle is mainly war fiction mixed with Sci Fi elements.

We focus on the pretty figure instead, Shigure is scaled 1/8 and was released in December 2015. The figure shows Shigure in her Kai Ni verrsion, it is based on her card in Bushiroad’s card game ‘Weiβ Schwarz’ it looks slightly more badass than her browser Game illustration.

In general my figures purchases appear to be rather focused on sexy onee – sans, rarely but sometimes it also happens that figures of my favorite characters are being made.

What I like about Shigure, she is a naturally cute ship girl. The figure doesn’t really show, but Ingame she has a really nice smile. I also like her softly, calm voice. Shigure is quite humble, friendly and polite. Judging from her appearance she is a younger highschool student.

A very appealing part of the figure is the beautiful face. The shape of her eyebrows and mouth give her expression a serious direction, still she looks quite enchanting. Her detailed eyes give Shigure some extra bishoujo points. Also the detailed brown hair is very nice, I like the short braid and metallic hair ornament. The hair accentuates her pretty face nicely.

Together with Yudachi and other Shiratsuyu-class girls, Shigure Kai Ni has the coolest Destroyer girls uniform design in Kancolle, I love the dark colors, the tie and the short sleeves.

The outfit of Shigure is mainly a normal dark school uniform, she only wears a mechanical belt where everything else is attached. Oh and her shiny shoes are equipped with cute rudders.

Shigure is not only a bishoujo character, she also some weapons and mechanical parts.
The things at her thighs are torpedo tubes, the backpack shows her 12,7 cm cannons and the smaller guns are 13 mm anti air guns. Shigure Kai Ni is not a simple figure to put on display as it is, sculptor Sai developed a nice idea about how to give the figure different ways to display.

You can have Shigure with bare fists, with one small AA gun and you can also put the backpack cannons in her hands with support arms coming from her back it looks really cool. It’s only a little complex at first, so it’s good that there is a manual included.

Final Words

Shigure Kai Ni turned out so nice, I’m really happy about having another favorite Kancolle character as figure. The sculptor and GSC created a convincing and very elaborate 1/8 scaled figure of Shigure, everything about her looks amazingly good, be it the sculpting, the articulation, the paintjob or the shading.

Shigure is a high quality figure, the great sculpting and the elaborate paintjob on her hair, her clothes and the mechanical parts is quite impressive…

the two main display options are very good, in both ways Shigure is an extremely appealing figure. With 12,7 cm guns in her hands Shigure looks very powerful and bulky with these weapons attached as backpack, she appears lighter and sporty.

Today, we will take a look on the latest figures that popped up at the shops recently. It has been a while since the last “New Preorders” post, I totally forgot it to be honest. It feels like prices for our precious figures climbed even more in the meantime , the Dollfie/BJD hobby I recently got more interested in is not so much more expensive, anymore.

Even though I struggled with Preorder decisions, there still were figures I considered convincing. Strangely two are ecchi and exclusive, I hope the manufacturers will show their figures from the past Wonderfestival soon, so that my preorder roadmap looks less ecchi.

Saenai Heroine no Sodatekata – Eriri Spencer Sawamura

In the end I’ve betrayed Utaha senpei with Eriri ;D I just ordered this figure of Eriri, I love her expression and the detailed paintjob. And when you can take off the jacket, she just gets more beautiful, it’so nice how the shirt accentuates her petite body and she has good thighs.

Original Character – Kankoshi Momoi – simple version

There where 2 versions, one with gynaecological chair for around 17.000 Yen and one with a beanbag for 12.000 Yen, since I was mainly interested in the figure I decided for the simple version. I like these design of the nurse, she is very pretty and I’m enchanted by the playful expression. The figure has pretty bare boobs, I’m ok with displaying figures this way haha.

Asmodeus – Maou Mokushiroku – Koori Shiri Ice Cream no Bushi

The third run of the 7  Deadly Sins is more interesting to me, the bigger 1/7 scale brings out the characterdesign even more, be it the pretty demon girl faces or the attractive bodies, but also the poses appear more dynamic. I already ordered the Leviathan – Maou Mokushiroku figure and now Asmodeus. I like the creative idea of a figure lying around in a tasty sundae.
Asmodeus looks super hot with the boots and her prominent butt and I like these fine hair strands and the face. Please don’t mind this bizarre ice on a stick, I guess it’s removable.

Kantai Collection – Yuudachi Kai Ni – Parfom –

Yuudachi is the prettiest Destroyer girl and this action figure caught my interest. This 14cm deformed styled figure is called Parform, it’s a poseable figure with many interchangeable parts and three faces. The figure looks really pretty and the posing options are probably fun.

Hyakka Ryoran – Matabei Goto Kenki Ver.

I was watching this figure since some time, it’s a interesting somehow cute figure, the pose is fun when Matabei is carrying an oversized brush. It’s her Master Samurai appearance and the brush is actually a spear. The pose is also nice because you can admire her great looking butt and her cute sulking face expression at the same time, maybe thats also the reason for her sulking. Matabei appears older than her Samurai Girl friends, at least she has a sturdier frame. Her butt has a good size from time to time I like a bit more butt in my figure collection.

Captain Earth – Hana Mutou

I already mentioned that I’m a big fan of Captain Earth, I already received a figure of the Villain Moco. Hana is a good girl with a strong tan and beautiful blue eyes. She is without a doubt a pretty girl an her simple dress underlines her innocent nature.

Kantai Collection – Tatsuta

Ques Q turned the two sisters into appealing figures based on the official art, both sisters are somewhat dangerous, Tatsuta is a charming yandere in an elegant outfit. She looks really pretty, the black cutout dress nicely accentuates her chest covered with a white shirt.

Kantai Collection – Tenryuu

Tenryuu is the more aggressive, intimidating, tomboyish sister, her design is more all out, but her outfit is also quite appealing, personally I prefer Tenryuu a little bit, she is just so cool.

Futsuu no Joshikousei ga [LocoDol] Yattemita. – Yui Mikoze

Without knowing the origin I think the concept is pretty funny. The sporty, curvy girl watching you from inside the mascot costume. You’ll also have secondary option to display, after her mascot job is over. The sweaty look is somehow cute and her stretchy sport dress is sexy.

Fire Girl – Homura Hinooka Swimsuit style

The first time I saw this figure, I really liked her colors and the face, she’s a simple yet also stylish swimsuit figure. She’s pretty, but still I think she needs more volume around her thighs.

Maid-san to Boin Damashii – Mikage Kuroki

Sexy meido incoming. This is a really good looking figure especially with glasses she’s such a hottie. Her body is nice, also with a lovely backside with smaller boobs that would still be a wonderful figure, though FREEing made her ultra busty, which is not everybodies cup of tea.

My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU 2 – Yukino Yukinoshita

Kotobukiya makes the best promo pictures for their figures, Yukino looks great with her pale skin and moon blue eyes. The expressive pose with her sitting on the chair also adds a lot to her appeal. She’s cool, beautiful and wears a nice uniform, black hair is always win.

Maken-Ki! – Aki Nijou

I like the cuddly girls of Maken-Ki! I was super surprised as preorders opened last week, in general Orchid Seed takes longer to paint their prototypes. Aki sensei is the cute doctor, I wanna pinch her cheeks (these in her face, ok) I like her face, hair and  alluring presentation.
In the anime she is refered to as K cup, I’m not sure if the figure really has that proportions.

Grisaia no Kajitsu – Yumiko Sakaki

Yumiko the tsundere heroine from Grisai, coincidentially I played the Game not long ago and had fun with her arc. Her sweet side makes her really adorable. In her bashful pose and cute bunnysuit she also looks great. Holding a giant carrot makes it an even cuter figure.

Although I’m mainly a collector of attractive Bishoujo figures, Nendoroids always have a place in my heart, my last purchase was Takamachi Nanoha – Nendoroid #263 , recently two other for me very appealing Nendoroids were announced.

I like the training outfits much more, since they don’t look like carnival XD Every girl comes in an unique outfit with a special character specific item. So far I like the Kotori Nendoroid the most, even though I have other Top 3 characters, she’s just too cute.

So apparently that were all the things I was interested in, maybe you liked a few of them, too. Or did you discover different figures recently that might have triggered your interest?

Hello don’t worry I’m not completely lost in the fashion doll realm. So today I will take a look at the Kongou Battleship from Max Factory, it’s a figure based on the very popular online Game Kancolle, it is also my first figure from this franchise.

This was the first thing from Kongou and Kancolle I’ve seen, weeks later I have joined the Admirals who play this Game. It was a little difficult to get in, but it’s definetely a lot of fun.

My first Burning Love interests were Samidare, Mutsuki and Hatsuharu, no one announced a figure of these, but Mutsuki became a main character in the currently airing anime adaption.

Kongou is one of the very popular ships, admired by many male admirals for her extremely energetic, cheerful, weird and caring personality. Since the anime I’m also a fan of her, she reminds me of a friendlier version of Suzumiya Haruhi.

I changed the adress for my RSS feed recently, so if anyone was following me through this, I would advice you to update these feeds. This for posts, this for comments.

Kongou was released in January 2015, I’m somewhat late with the review, but here we go…

YOSHII was in charge of crafting this figure after her official damaged state illustration, all Kancolle figures from Max Factory are based on the damaged state fleet girl illustrations.

The combination of pretty animes girls and weapons isn’t new, yet kancolle puts it to another level, by adding heavy WWII equipment for naval warfare on different looking bishoujo characters. Kancolle is incredibly succesful, also in terms of elaborate fanart, most is partially erotic, but there are other amazing illustrations, too.

Kongou has a huge battleship in tow which is supposed be attached to her hips, here you can pose the figure like you want, since the “ship” is part of the base. The weapons look elaborate to a certain degree, but have no further function or moveable parts. The base is solid and fiting for a game based figure, but somehow it leaves a lackluster feeling.

It’s rare for Max Factory to make 1/8 scaled figures of such popular characters, but they did… I’d rather have her as big as indicated on her windowless box honestly.

Kongou as she sits here is a fantastic and beautiful figure, but I notice that she is not as elaborately done as other figures from Max Factory at 1/7 or 1/6. The tattered clothes could partially look more natural, the golden chain looks rather cheap. Although this so so impression only applies to parts of her outfit, boots and the pleated skirt look especially nice.

Her hair shows a natural brown with darker shading, the alice band like headgear with cute, golden radar system rests on her head. The face with the closed eye shows signs of pain, shock and sadness, the uncomfortable expression is nevertheless beautiful and adorable.

Not every in game illustration is appealing in Kancolle, compared to the damaged state illustration of Kongou, the face appears rounder and wider, in my eyes a big improvement.

Partially the figure has a nicely sculpted body, thighs, arms and face in particular, yet the sculpting of other areas dissapoints. Her back and belly is very low on details, where are the shoulderblades? Also the boobs don’t convince in this half exposed way, it somehow has not the desired sex appeal. So that aside Kongou’s main selling points for me is the beautiful and nicely detailed face. The mouth has a great depth with a cute tongue and sculpted lower lip.

Final Words

Lets sum this up in a few words, Kongou is an appealing figure also at 1/8 scale and the adaption of the official illustration with some improvements conidering her face.
Although she has not the quality as other larger scale Max Factory figures, the smaller scale lead to unnecessary quality and sculpting cutbacks, most prominent at her backside.

I expected something more elaborate for the 11.700 Yen that I’ve paid for an 1/8 scale figure.

Still Kongou’s strong point is the face and pose that portray her vulnerable side and asks for comfort, Teitoku!!! In case you rather see Kongou as the cool and sweet ship she is, take a look at Phat Company’s Kongou. Another Kancolle figure I’ve ordered is I-168 from Max Factory.

Sorry for the rather negative sounding impression, I like the figure more than you would imagine, I also took many pictures with her. What is your impression of this figure after this review?

Yes, new preorders part 25 and something is probably the right title for this post, there has been not much new to preorder at the end of the year. I expected a few more Kancolle figures from other manufacturers to show up for preorders in December, but they are probably waiting to announce these for the next Wonder Festival which is sheduled for February 2015.

Aside from a few updated or announced figures from MegaHobby Expo Autumn and some more fanservice related figures there hasn’t been happening much in the last few months.

I did order only a few figures one of them on last minute literally, I really plan to preorder less figures in 2015, mainly focusing on the things I really want and making no impulse purchases.

Kasugano Sora

In the last Preorder Post 24 this figure was one of maybe candidates, I decided to get her, unfortunately all shops closed reservations months ago. I got the fix idea to grab one on the day of release and to my surprise it worked, HLJ had a few left. Shortly before release ALTER announced a black color Variant, but I’m on team white. I’m looking forward to have her soon.

Sailor Sapphire Succubus

Another maybe candidate was this hot Succubus based on an artwork of Mogudan. I’m not lying when I say that the biggest appeal point for me is the figures beautiful and lively face. Ok, she also has an attractive, voluptuos body and with being scaled 1/6 she will be a rather big figure. With the short shirt it looks a bit silly, but without it though, she looks really, really sexy. I might try to put a bikini top on her. I can’t wait to get her in summer 2015.

Super Sonico Paisura Bikini ver

You can probably tell by now that I’m into that stuff XD Here is another Super Sonico figure,
it might actually be the last one this time, until something really unique is shown.

I followed the development of her since the very early prototype stage and was quite happy to see her having turned out as promising preorder. What convinced me in the end was this set of promotional pictures, where Sonico blushes a lot, which is no wonder with a bikini that won’t fit at all and reveals her attractive, buxom body. Her pose has something to do with putting on sun lotion, I like how she squeezes her arm between her plump, fairly sized boobs.

The sculptor has a promising history of good looking figures with nicely sculpted bodies, I’m positive that this big scale Sonico figure from Kaitendoh will be really nice as well.

Toro Toro Otome – Miki Reina – Suntan version

I was really torn between this figure and the previously shown Sonico. I ordered Sonico, but Miki is still a beauty. There is already a non tanned version of this figure, but the darker skin adds a lot to her and makes her look more convincing. Miki has a playful appearance, very nice colors, different display options and her top is castoff able. It was a difficult decision, but I actually hate her shoes to be honest, but I’ll keep her in mind for a possible later purchase ^^

Musashi Kai – Light Armament Version

You can buy this figure in 4 different versions, 2 differ in color, 2 differ in terms of attached weapons. With full armament she looks quite impressive, but the normal version is also very pretty, cheaper and less likely to get damaged when being moved around, that pole is better made of aluminum or steel *lol* Musashi looks good with some muscles and rather big boobs , she also wears an interesting concept of an outfit completed with a ribbon wrapped around her body. If her face would show some more emotion I would have pre-ordered her for sure.

BLAZBLUE ALTER MEMORY – Mu-12

This figure looks really cool with led powered base and prominent buttocks, the sculptor did a good job on the skin parts and the rest obviously. On the downside her face is hard to see, from different angles it’s still hard to see, which will be a reason for me not to pre-order her.

Eiyuu*Senki GOLD – Beethoven

That is the most innocent character design from the Eiyuu*Senki game and I really like that, Beethoven is a cute, short girl with an unique hairstyle and headphones. The slanted eyes give a nice thoughtful touch and she has a podium like base.

Himejijou

As the castle figure was still an unpainted prototype I liked her a lot more. I imagined her colors to turn out more striking. While she doesn’t look bad at all,I feel a little vary about her. She would actually be my type of figure and her diorama like base is lovely. I might like Hiimejijou a lot better in person, but with my mixed impressions I can’t make a pre-order.

Karada ni Kiite – Eriko

Who put the nearly nude figure here, me? I guess I liked her feminine curves a lot and the interesting design of her face. Haha like on Miki Reina from further above I hate the shoes again, what is Daiki doing with all the ugly shoes! Hmmm, it seems that the figures are just randomly divided beteen Daiki Kougyou and Dragon Toy (both companies are related).I had the impression that Dragon Toy would be in charge of the raunchy stuff, apparently not ;D

Sekai Seifuku ~ Bouryaku no Zvezda – Plamya-sama

I’m watching Bouryaku no Zvezda at the moment and also enjoy it a lot, Plamya caught my attention previously to that, since the character design is already really cool and I also like her tough girl personality. To me it appears that the prototype was improved a bit, the picture is around 2 weeks old

Ater seeing this figures cute face in color, I’m really curious about what kind of character Leviathan actually is. She looks cute and sexy in her beach clothes, gladly Orchid Seed will work on her with Tanaka Masanori they got a really talented sculptor for her. In a magazine scan, she was shown with a silly pose, but it must be a different figure, don’t you think?

Love Live! School Idol Festival – Minami Kotori

ALTER keeps up the trend of making more figures in scale 1/7. Here the Love Live core member Kotori. I don’t know what they did to make this Kotori prototype look so precious, she’s nearly sparkling with craftsmanship, cuteness and visual appeal. They also made Maki.

On their blog Orchid Seed mentioned that the prototype for this figure has been completed and that updates should follow soon. I’m really happy that this figures gets more attention now. I wished for her since I saw her at Summer Wonder Festival 2012. compared to the shown First version of her prototype the body looks more detailed now, at body and legs.

Sansei Muramasa – Bunny version

Sansei received quite some attention from Wing in particular, they already made a figure of her in the regular outfit which looks rather good with the serious face. Recently they were showing this through their social channels. I already like the concept art, keep it up Wing.
