A bunch of figures based on Sora no Otoshimono have been made, the appealing, lovely heroines Nymph, Ikaros and Astrea received quite some attention from several figure manufacturers. I’m still waiting for a figure of Sohara, but since the franchise ended, I should bury my expectations. This figure here is my third one related to Sora no Otoshimono.

I always liked Kotobukiya for producing really cute figures at a good price and in the past i purchased a lot. Since they changed the material for most of their recent figures for whatever reason , I became more careful with purchasing new figures I just don’t like the  new skintone.

After I placed my order for Ikaros. I really feared that I would not like her in the end, fortunately things turned out better than expected, so today lets have a look at Ikaros in this review.

Under their 4 Leaves label Kotobukiya released Ikaros in mid August 2014, it’s the second
Sora no Otoshimono figure, Nymph was the first on they’ve made, I reviewed her in 2011.
Ikaros was sculpted by Hoya Mitsuru a new sculptor who just made this and another figure of Sinon, Ikaros is on her knees and is scaled 1/6, the figure is rather big, but in a compact pose.

Sora no Otoshimono is a popular manga/anime series that also had a movie some time ago, the manga ended earlier this year. I liked certain aspects of the show, but there were also certain things I disliked, it was really a bit heavy on the fanservice side, this coming from me, really means something *lol* The story suffered a little from that and the dirty main character.

In season 1 Ikaros was a character I really liked. Ikaros is a Angeloid, advanced cyborg who can either be used a weapon or how should I put it, a toy for evil masters. Most of the story, Ikaros has problems with showing happy expressions because she has a few limiters programmed into her, thats the reason why she always looks a bit sorrowful and in need for comfort. I like sad heroines in anime, they have a certain fascination on me, I also liked Flay in Gundam Seed.

The pink hair looks nice, also from behind I was rather surprised by the level of detail, with longs braids and ribbons. Ikaros has persocom ears, you remember the nice romantic anime Chobits?

The gradient of her bangs from light pink to black is really pretty. Also the details are very well done. Her face is even better, the big green eyes are nicely painted and the figure has strong blush marks under the eyes. The small mouth  shows a shy expression with a sense of sadness, still Ikaros manages to look really adorable, maybe if we pat her head long enough she will smile a little. The prototype had a different kind of skintone, but the reduced opacity of the final product turned out less obvious than I anticipated, in fact her skin looks rather nice.

As “toy” Angeloid, Ikaros combat suit reveals some skin, her torso is nearly naked. I really like her bare shoulders and the way her outfit accentuates her body. Ikaros fairly sized boobs have a more natural appearance in this bend over and squished together position, but weren’t they bigger in the manga, I don’t remember. From the backside you can also see her pretty  back.

The figure comes with a soft, stuffed blue base, I haven’t used it in the pictures, it looks like that.
As little accessory Kotobukiya added a melon to the figure, the round object can be placed under her hand. In the anime her relationship towards watermelons was very cute, she really likes round objects and cultivates watermelons in the main characters garden.

Ikaros has small wings on her back, colored with a  pearl white shine and a pinkish tint, they look very good on her and highlight her interesting outfit. The figures light outfit is supposed to be body armor. She has sky blue stockings with heavy boots and shin guard, the shoes alone don’t look tough. At her arms she’s also wearing guards above the sleeves. The black and white parts should probably resemble modern robot like things. It is a often used color variant in modern SciFi media. Her corsage like top don’t have much protection, also not her cute skirt. The skirt also comes off and reveals bright white panties, I would have given bonus points for polka dots.

The detailed outfit is pleasing to the eye, the white parts are shaded with a mix of light blue and gray which helps in giving the figures sculpt some more depth and additional contrasts. The chain and choker around her neck looks a little mean and kinky, but it plays an important role in the story, also the gunmetal color with the dark shading gives it a great, realistic look.

Final Words

Kotobukiya’s Ikaros turned out quite nice, she is big, but a rather compact figure due to the pose. Overall she has nice details and shading at the right places gives her an elaborate look. Ikaros is a expressive figure, the vulnerable, sorrowful expression makes her very adorable and appealing  She has a lot of shelf appeal, also because of her pretty color combination.
The quality of my copy is really good, there is actually nothing I could really  complain about.

On the bottom line Ikaros is a beautiful winged, pink haired lady in need for comfort.

For gods sake I still wasn’t able to get in this stupid online game, even with all the “tricks”. Just how difficult can it be ｡ﾟ(TヮT)ﾟ｡ !!? Even without being able to play the game, I love the visual style of Kantei Collection. Combining a cute girl with a classic battleship from WWII makes you nearly forget about the tragedy that befall this and many other ships. Back to the admirals darling, Kongou looks simply gorgeous, considering that she is only scaled 1/8 this figure is super detailed, the few damage effects on her and the clothes give her some sexy appeal .

 Nitro Super Sonic – Sonico – Beach Queens

As Sonico fan, I just couldn’t ignore this new Beach Queen, Wave sculpted her nicely with all of her convincing physical attributes, just look at her thighs, she’s pure dynamite. I also like the little red crab which will be included .

Ikaros – Sora no Otoshimono Final 

Recently I have finished the manga from Sora no Otoshimono, it ended pretty unspectacular, you should expect nothing from a harem setting in the end. The authors just don’t have the guts to let the main character pick one girl. One of Sora no Otoshimono’ good part is the appealing character design and likeability of it’s characters. Kotobukiya decided to make a figure of Ikaros under their 4 Leaves lable. She looks lovely from head to toe, I just love her puppy eyes. From the backside she also convinces with her detailed braids.

Kashiwazaki Sena – Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai NEXT

I ordered this figure as soon as she was available, sure she is huge, but I’m sure that I will like this curvy girl, the sculpting is so well done. Also her face is convincing, Gift did a very good job at recreating the face of Sena with all of it’s details, while other companies failed at it so far.

I’ve been waiting ages for Suguha to be released, at first she was scheduled for November 2013, but now the day of her release is close. The figure has a nice natural sitting pose where she is placed on a cute veranda, I guess she will be a cute companion for outdoor shootings.

Cecilia Alcott – IS: Infinite Stratos 2 – Bunny ver.

As it was already announced at last Wonfes, FREEing is going to turn all IS girls except Houki into large scale figures. I always checked out FREEing’s big figures at Tentacle Armada and thought that they are pretty. Nevertheless, when looking at Cecilia I’m kinda impressed how faithful she is to her anime appearance with blush and a lively expression, she looks quite gorgeus. Let’s hope that there will be no cutbacks on the details in the final product.

Original Character – Kondo Yume

It is mean that Native mixed this adorable cute character design with so much lewdness, ok the illustration was already like that. Yume is really cute, she is petite, pretty and yeah she even has glasses. I like her type quite a bit, there are a number different ways to display her.

These battery powered things in her bag give me the creeps and actually are superfluous for me and I will let them stay in the box. Aside from that, she comes with a mattress and pillows. I’m probably going to order her, even when it takes all of my courage to do so. You can order her from the 25th April 2014 at your proxy of choice or directly from Native.

 
 Taimanin Asagi – Igawa Asagi

Oh I nearly forgot to add Asagi, this is the second figure that I’ve seen of this character. I like the design of her. Her origin is quite  hard stuff, I’m not talking about fights, I took a look in one part, it was not really my thing. Anyway I’m happy that she is made modest in a cool pose

Sonsaku Hakufu – Ikki Tousen

I have a week spot for the latest Ikki Toussen figures from Daiki/Dragon Toy. The latter one made this super pretty Hakufu figure in damaged clothes, I think she would look good next to my Kan’u , both have a similar style and very good body sculpting. This hole in her shirt will be a bit difficult to cover, I assume, that I can worry about that later ;D

Souryuu Asuka Langley – Evangelion Shin Gekijouban: Q – Jersey ver.

Thats probably the most fashionable Asuka figure to date, the hat alone is awesome, ALTER included a different posing option to recreate two different, appealing poses. Overall she looks very good and has a cool expression, I would consider to add her to my collection.

Mikasa Ackerman – Shingeki no Kyojin

Ackermann looks really good as figure, she has cool clothes is super detailed and a without a doubt pretty face. Well, even though I like this story Mikasa comes from a lot, strangely I don’t feel much for anyone of the characters.

Better late than never a Nendoroid of Sakura appears, I just watched the whole Cardcaptor anime like two years ago, it’s the perfect example of a very nicely concluded anime. You could order her from the 25th April 2014 , I probably will.

Love Live is such an entertaining show, there are my animes related to the Idol culture, but Love Live is special. Sparkling animations and character designs, mixed with a number of different, but likeable personalities. GSC chose Honoka as figure to be made, she looks great so far. Actually I like the “big”girl, but the one that steals my heart is the little devil, Nico.

Koshimizu Sachiko – iDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls

This is so good, an enchanting yandere type of Idol, I love her cute demonic expression, it’s a rarely used theme, her pose is also unique, I hope the final figure looks as shiny as this.

Tachibana Makoto – Free!  ALTAiR

Well, here we have a sexy boy, oh my I’m watching too many sport anime lately. I never watched Free! for it’s lack of female characters, well I have heard that the female swim coach was pretty. Makoto is not really the bishounen type, but I think he looks pretty cool in this pose and outfit. Preorders haven’t opened so far.

A figure that was manufacturered by PLUM, it’s Astraea from the Sora no Otoshimono anime/manga. Her release date was in December 2011. On first sight, I got quite interested in this figure, but my opinion of Plums craftsmanship so far was just based on this Nymph figure and honestly it wasn’t that convincing to me.

So as their Astraea was announced I decided to wait a bit more with the purchase, I also expected that she might end up in the bargain bin like Plum’s Nymph before, but the opposite happened, at the shops I use more regularly the figure was already sold out that was fast.

Astraea is scaled 1/6 and has impressive dimensions, she is 23 cm in height and 22 cm in length, from wing to wing she measures around 30 cm. You should have seen the huge box.

Astraea’s character at first appeared in the 2nd season of the Sora no Otoshimono anime and in chapter 22 of the manga. She is a close combat Angeloid Type Delta. She is a little airheaded and has limited intelligence, but she is equipped with high combat abilities and can show emotions unlike Ikaros. She is 159 cm in height and her bust measures 103 cm.

Later on on she became part Tomoki and his friends. I really like this cute big boobed girl with her cheeeful personailty. She is gluttonous and always scrounges off food from Tomoki.

It seems like a lot of people bought this figure but actually not a single one wrote a review (correct me if I’m wrong), which was another reason for me to track this figure down.

Fortunately I could find it the figure a few month after release at Plamoya, sometimes they have nice discounts, no Im not sponsored. During the shipment I started to doubt my decision, I didn’t know what to expect from Plum or this figure, would I be satisfied with her?
Anyway Im glad that I ordered Astraea, I would have regret it if I had passed on her.

The base is made of ABS and is connected without a peg, you just have to hook it under the backside of her top and gravity does the rest. It is quite stable and the figure has no holes at the back. You can also display her without the base, she just needs a little support from behind.

Hair & Face

Her straw blonde hair looks very well made, the strands as well as the shading are clean and nicely done. Further below the hair is splitted into two huge braids with detailed tips. The voluminous hair part isn’t made in one piece there are 4 smaller seam lines, but it’s no big deal.

On the promo pics the figure seemed to have a rather aroused *kyaaah* face, but in person it turned into a somehow cute and surprised look from most angles, overall her face is very well recreated, the red eyes are lively and have a shiny finish, underneath are some nice blushmarks which were used in a more sublimal way. The figure has an deep open mouth with a nice upper front teeth line. Her naughty °v° mouth would have also been nice, but Im fine with °@° as well.

Body & Outfit

Astraea has a quite buxom body, she is probably the figure with the most impressive bosom in my collection, but she’s still within my so called “not bigger than her head, please” rule.
Im wondering if I can bend this rule enough to make the bath time Hinako figure fit into it XD

Astraea also offers a wasp waist, and a quite big butt for anime figure standards. Nevertheless calling her chubby would be incorrect since her abs appear very well trained. Other amenities of her are the  lovely meaty thighs, the long blonde hair and the beautifully sculpted wings with the diffuse and soft shading. Astraea herself has a delicious pale skintone with subliminal shading.

The figure also has  a nicely designed outfit as well, it is a mix of warrior and cheerleader clothes. The armor parts, the tight corsage and the playful skirt are a fitting combination overall. With her outfit, the buxom body and the sword shield combination, she looks like a Valkyrie. Astraea seems much more like a close combat warrior than her Angeloid friends Ikaros and Nymph.

The clearly outlined and strong colors, work very well with the haircolor and the skintone.

Around her neck she is wearing a  detailed choker in shaded gunmetal color with a few single sculpted chain links. It looks definitely more detailed than the one of Kotobukiya’s Nymph.

PLUM’s Astraea has a castoff feature, but it’s just limited to her skirt, sadly no bare boobs XD. The body separates right under her boobs, you should pay attention to put the two parts of her body back together firmly or you will have a weird looking gap. It’s not like the skirt would cover much in the first place, but I enjoy the clear view at her broad hips and narrow waist.

Depending on the viewing angle at the figure, the crotch is sometimes more or sometimes less visible. Astraea wears innocent white panties but is showing some kind of a small camel toe.

I guess I would have also bought this Astraea in a more simple standing pose, but PLUM went for a more elaborate pose which was based on the illustration below. It isn’t really clear what is happening, either someone is peeking under her skirt or Astraea did something clumsy. Anyway the sculpting is very well done an Astraea is presenting her nice attributes towards the viewer.

This figure is also equipped with a few weapons, the huge thing is a oscillating photon blade called ‘Chrysaor‘, and the shield is known as ‘Aegis L‘. You can display her with and without them, the sword can be placed in her hand and you can exchange the shield hand with a normal one.

Final Words

As some of you maybe already expected, Im really satisfied about how this figure turned out, with 1/6 she’s is a figure of the larger kind and leaves a good impression like that.

With PLUM as a rather new figure manufacturing Company you would probably like to know about their quality, in terms of Astraea I can say that she’s a great figure, they did a great job with the smooth sculpting, of the body and the outfit, it shows nearly no signs of seamlines.
The paintjob is applied in a quite clean manner with next to zero overapaintnig issues. Also her shading looks very good. There is really not much to complain about Astraea.
PLUM’s upcoming Erio and the recently announced God Eater Burst – Alisa from Wonfes also appear quite promising.

On a side note, it was somehow difficult to photograph a figure of such a size and pose, finding the right combination of aperture and distance for example. Im more used to smaller ones and most of my props were just too small.

Hi here is a new figure related post, but instead of a new figure review it’s about my latest figure preorders. 5 more figures made it to my list. This years list keeps growing faster than I would actually wish, lets see if I can keep it under 24 figures at the end of this year unlike in 2011.

First the last minute preorders/orders which were just added recently.

Naoe Kanetsugu -Hyakka Ryouran – ALTER

Naoe Kanetsugu from the Hyakka Ryouran anime is a 1/8 scaled figure which was released on 2012/02/24. With a big fat smile and a big fat hammer she has a very appealing design.

I nearly passed on Naoe since I wasn’t sure about purchasing her and as I considered it, she was already sold out on the japanese market. Luckily the german shop Figuya still had a few copies of her. I don’t have to say much more about her just check out Tier’s review, she’s awesome.

Astraea – Sora no Otoshimono – PLUM

Another figure that triggered my interest since announcement was this Astraea, she is scaled 1/6 and was released on 2011/12/27. Astraea is the 2nd Sora no Otoshimono figure by Plum.

The face of the first one, looked a bit off, luckily Astraea resembled her origin close enough.
Sora no Otoshimono is a nice anime with likeable characters, the girls are especially likeable, unfortunately so far there is not much to find from them in the figure market. I like Astraea, the strong and gluttonous Angeloid with the low processing capabilities. The figure is based on an official illustration. Because of her face the whole figure appears a bit *kyahhh!* ecchi.

I would have prefered this figure with a happy face, but Im quite satisfied with the look of her body and outfit. I assumed that she would end in the bargain bin, but nonsense this figure was sold out faster than expected. A few days ago I was able to find her for a reasonable price at Playmoya. But with the figure in the shipping now I slightly start to regret this purchase, but lets see how this one will turn out in the end. My upcoming review of her might be interesting :p

Sayaka Miki – Mahou Shoujo Madoka★Magica – GSC

Sayaka is from the popular Mahou Shoujo Madoka★Magica anime, she is scaled 1/8 and will be released in June 2012. From the bigger figure manufacturers GSC seems to have leased the Madoka license and at first I was a bit dissapointed as I saw their prototypes, because I expected something more dynamic. Madoka is very cute, but from the 1st run Madoka★Magica figures, Sayaka was the more appealing one to me. She is by far not my favorite girl from the anime. [spoiler name=”spoiler”]I still don’t understand why she chose to die in such a pityful way[/spoiler] but in terms of overall appearance she looks so nice. I really like her blue and white colored knight like outfit with the skirt and the cape. Some parts of her outfit give her a slightly tomboyish still ladylike appearance. The cute face expression is also quite appealing to me, as well as her pose. The hands are exchangeable and she is able to hold two cool looking cutlass sabers.

Hatsune Miku – Cheerful Japan! – Support version – GSC

This figure was just recently announced on winter Wonfes 2012 and is now available exclusively at GSC’s online shop with shipping included I had to pay 12000 Yen upfront. This Hatsune Miku figure adaption is based on a submission by bun150 the winner of the Cheerful JAPAN! Cheerful Illustration Contest. The figure is scaled 1/8 and will be shipped in August this year. I fell for this figure as I saw pictures of her on Wonfes. She has such an adorable design, she is wearing a cute cheerleader dress and is equipped with an adorable face and super nice twintails. I also fell in love with the dynamic pose and the speaker box base, orange is my favorite color by the way.

Yagyu Jubei – Hyakka Ryouran – AmiAmi zero

A new swimsuit figure from AmiAmi zero’s Hyakka Ryouran swimsuit figure line up, next to Hattori and an announced Senhime figure, Jubei was chosen as a new figure. She is scaled 1/8 and will be released in September 2012. I actually like her design more than her character, but that shouldn’t be a problem, she has a very cute face and looks good from tip to toe. The blue eyes add a lovely contrast to the red hair and the skimpy red swimsuit. She has a very sexy body, with an well defined belly and a damn hot backside, this Jubei is also partly castoffable.

Rororina Fryxell by Megahouse

Thats a lovely recreation of leather clothes we see on her outfit. The figure has a very nice design overall, if the cape will turn out as castoffable I might pick her up.

Naoe Kanetsugu Swimsuit version by Hobby Link/ALTER

If this Naoe was a normal run figure I would have already ordered her, but I already have three exclusive figures on order, so in terms of money I should pass, but when just looking at her bishoujo face and hair, I would really like to have her in my collection.

Soniko Nurse Version by Orchid Seed

A more cartoon like figure adaption from Soniko, here she is a friendly nurse with her curves pressed into an old geezers daydream nurse uniform, oh these stockings. Of course she is castoffable, but you even have a second dress option in form of a light top. As Soniko fan this should be a no brainer, but I should have a better resistance.

Megurine Luka by Max Factory

What draw me to this figures at first was the unique brown color of her outfit with the golden accents, and the more sexy adaption of a vocaloid. Now Im not so sure about her face anymore, its not ugly at all, but something seems to be missing for me.

Sandaime Muramasa by Max Factory

I might regret it later, but I can’t bring myself to order her until I see pictures of the final product. A brown skintone is something you could mess up with ease in my opinion. Well, I guess Max Factory can do a good job and I might order her after release if possible.

Laura Bodewig  swimsuit version by WAVE

A cute twintail girl with an eyepatch and an overall priceless face expression. Why am I hesitating? The only little underwhelming thing is that she’s just 1/10 , which is a bit small to be honest.

Inia Sestina and Cryska Barchenowa by Kotobukiya

This adorable Inia is wearing a nice and tight Mizugi + stocking outfit and has a  very cute appearance overall. Both figures would look very good together, I guess

Inia’s friend Cryska appears in a more aggressive fashion and shows a cleavage to die for XD She also has a great backside and comes with a Santa Clause hat. I didn’t remember that Kotobukiya had such sexy figures.

Anyway I ordered enough stuff again to make a decent New Preorder post, not really outstanding or sexy figures this time, but things I really want as well as some goodies.

Lets start with a last minute preorder of mine Kotobuki Tsumugi 1/7 Waitress Version made by Max Factory, I just noticed how pretty this figure was one week before her release date, I really gave it a lot of thought if I should order or pass on this figure, to make things short as the in stock counter was down to 4 items I pushed the order button. I always wanted a figure dressed in a waitress outfit (waitress>maid), maybe I had prefered a sexier one ;p Nevertheless Mugi-chan looks like a very nice and well made figure and she’s also a bit sexy with her stockings.

I actually planned to buy GSC’s Suruga Kanbaru as bargain bin figure, but I’ve waited too long and she is sold out by now, even though I checked her in stock status 3 times a week.
To experience not another sold out desaster like that, I’ve finally ordered this cute Nymph from Sora no Otoshimono, she is scaled 1/6 and made by Kotobukiya. I liked Nymph in the second Season of Sora no Otoshimono and as this figure of her was announced I was hooked up, but just ordered her yesterday. Nymph is big, cute and comes with a cushion base, the shoulder armor and cape can be removed, I hope the choker comes off somehow as well.
Im really looking forward to get my first 1/6 scaled figure ^-^

In August I will get the Hachikuji Mayoi figma made by Max Factory I really like the character of Mayoi and this figma of her looks just adorable in the preview pictures her faces are just too cute. It’s also nice that they scaled her considering her age in the Bakemonogatari anime, so she’ll just measure cute 120mm ^-^. She comes with some nice accessoires like the backpack, an umbrella and a shift body in other words an additional body part for the kneeing pose.

My only preorder for October so far is the Hirasawa Yui “Windmill” PM figure made by Sega, two years ago I never considered to buy a single figure from Sega, but this year I noticed that they improved and are now capable of making nice figures in a quite good quality for a good price, of course I’ts not the same quality Alter or GSC has. Anyway, what I like about this Yui figure is her outfit with the HTT t-shirt the cute face expression and the very dynamic “Rock n Roll” pose. Unfortunately this figure was only available at Toyslogic, so far. Haha I’ve just noticed that I have two K-on! figures on preorder. I guess I prefer them in different outfits than in their uniforms.

Goodies

This time I also ordered other otaku culture related stuff, since it was cheap :P. So the small things at first, A little Dakimakura strap with Saten and Uiharu illustrated on it. it is 37mm wide and 100mm long. I mainly bought this out of curiosity and cause I like cute illustration, there were also Dakimakura straps with Misaka or Kuroko on it available, but they were a bit too bold ^^.

The Daiichi Uchu Sokudo CD with the BLUE STAR song, unfortunately the CD with the Superorbital song of Super Soniko which I really like, was sold out, too bad :(.
Well at least the cover of the CD I’ve ordered is nicer.

To complete my Super Soniko admiration I also ordered the limited edition of the Super Sonico Game “Sonicomi” produced by Nitro+. I don’t know why they call it limited edition, maybe

there are some nice extra goodies included. After I’ve watched some ads about it as research for my latest figure review, I was very tempted to buy this Game. It sounds like fun and from the things I’ve read about the game should be more on the romance side than “H” side.

Im confident about being able to play and understand most of the game with the help of Agth text extractor and an online translater like I did before with another japanese game, my motivation is very high. if it somehow won’t work the box of the game would still look good on a shelf I guess. I hope they won’t choose a too daring box cover for it, or Im screwed if someone finds out XD
