Bonus Question! – What suits an anime girl better than a maid outfit with nekomimi?
Correct, its a waitress outfit XD
In fact I always wanted a figure in a waitress outfit and Max Factory did a top-notch job with their cute Tsumugi Kotobuki Waitress version which I ordered closely before preorders were closed. Thanks to sutekiii and Luzai for the little convincing, I was close to pass on her XD.
Tsumugi Kotobuki is a 1/7 scaled figure with a height of 23,05 cm her release date was on May 23th 2011. The origin of this figure is a scene from the 12th episode of K-on! season one where Mugi was dressed in a waitress uniform which their crazy teacher Sawako-chan made for her. Mugi is sculpted by Nakayaman who also made all ot the other K-on figures for Max Factory.
I mainly bought this figure for being a lively waitress in a cute outfit, not because Im the biggest K-on! fan in the world. To tell you the truth I couldn’t took much pleasure in the first season of K-on! because I expected them to play more music and the comedy was so so for me. Of course I watched it to the end and when I had to name a favorite character in this first season it would be Tsumugi. She is a rich girl with a sweet and gentle personality, but she also has a funny “weirdo” attitude. If you want more info about her please visit the K-on! Wiki page
To cause no misunderstandings I loved every aspect of the second season of K-on!!.
The characters really grow on me even the bitchy Azusa and I was really sad as it was over ;p
To start with the review I will give you my first impressions about this figure, during unpacking her I noticed that she’s a quite heavy and huge figure. The first great thing that I’ve noticed was that the face resembles Mugi very well with the big eyebrows, the beautiful blue eyes and the slightly chubby cheeks. It’s the Mugi that I know and like. Together with her dress and the very interesting pose she leaves a big impression everywhere she is put.
Before you can fully enjoy this Mugi figure, some parts have to be put together, alltogether we have 6 loose parts which have to be put in place: base, figure, omelett plate, the huge desert plate, the parfait bowl and the parfait itself. The omelet plate slides between her fingers and her fingers at the other hand have pegs which slide into the desert plate. Dont worry all of the food is glued to the plates only the parfait has to be pressed on a peg. When everything is connected you’ll see how awesome this Mugi Waitress looks now, when she skillfully balances the plates.
The face looks cute and pretty with the blushmarks and the lovely engraved open mouth, also the flowing long hair with the nicely sculpted strands add a nice touch. Mugi’s body looks like the one of an “average” high school girl not too thin or chubby with normal long legs. Her upper body is leaned backwards to balance the orders from the customers. The position on her legs looks like she is highly motivated and has trust in her balancing skills.
These plates aren’t supposed to be straight, I guess the sculptor wanted to add a sense of danger into the pose and maybe Mugi fails to deliver these plates in the end and crashes everything ^o^.
Another great part is her outfit as I said above I love waitress outfits the most because they look more modern and sexy than maid uniforms, but I don’t want to bore you with my fetishes.
She wears a white shirt with short sleeves, lol I never noticed how well stacked Mugi actually is, she squeezes herself a bit in order to carry all these plates at once ;D. A nice eyecatcher is her dark red petticoat like skirt, the square pattern on it looks great as well as the sculpting and painting on it. Over her skirt she wears a short apron. Under the red skirt is another even more frilly layer of white plastic. Yes you can peek under her skirt but only when you flip her over.
The shiny, white stockings with the frilly ends give this figure a nice looking zettai ryouiki and they also have a great looking pink shading added on them. I should not forget these nice shiny black shoes with the silver colored buckles. To sum this part up, her outfit is cute, attractive “these stockings” and is very well done in terms of sculpting, shading and painting.
Again I received a figure which left a good impression, collecting figures is so much fun these days. There is nearly nothing about that figure which could bother me. She looks like the Mugi I know, the sculpting is done in a nearly perfect way, the same can be said about the paintjob this figure had received, the small plastic food looks just great as well as the whole figure. One minor thing is that the base doesn’t support her like it should. When you move Mugi or the thing which Mugi is placed on around she slightly shakes forward and backward, but its not like Mugi will fall over every second. It should be no problem at all when she is placed on a stable desk or shelf.
I would recommend Mugi Waitress version to the Mugi fans, Waitress outfit fans or just the people who love cute figures in beautiful outfits, this is the figure you have to buy!
The last few times I felt a bit bad for plublishing a review for a sold out figure, bu this time you still have the chance to get her at HobbyLinkJapan and AmiAmi.
