iDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls is basically an online game that can be played on your mobile, the player takes the role of producer san. You collect Idols, train them and enhance their stats. I haven’t played it so far, but we will take a look at the figure from Good Smile Company.

In terms of figures Cinderella Girls seems to be on par with the popularity of Kancolle.
It’s funny at first most figures were mainly based on dating sims and eroge, then anime characters became and still are the driving factor, but it is interesting to see the very amount of announced figures that are based on characters that have simple Flash Games as their origin . There are over 100 different Idols in the Game and there have been already a few figma releases, scale figures have been announced by GSC and Phat Company so far.

Shibuya Rin is the most popular character from Cinderella Girls, in casual clothes she is described to have an unfriendly appearance. Well, there not much info about her, she is 15 years old and likes dogs. Her zodiac is the lion, hey I have some things in common with Rin.

This cute and glamorous lady was manufactured by Good Smile Company, she is scaled 1/8 and measures 20 cm. Rin Shibuya was released at the end of April 2014. She comes with microphone, microphone stand and a cable. All parts had to be assembled, I cursed this stupid cable but some minutes later the figure was completed even without manual sheet, none was included actually. I thought cable connected mics are a thing from the past century.

They probably wanted to give the figure something nostalgic, but wild Idol dances are not possible with cable. However I like how she swings around her microphone in a dynamic manner. In case you want to imagine what she sounds like, here is a link to her song…

Shibuya Rin – Never say Never

I don’t have many Idol related figures if at all Rin is the first one. Honestly spoken while I find real idols to be a bit annoying sometimes, I have a liking for 2D Idols in anime. I really enjoy things like Love Live or iDOLM@STER, I like to watch how these cheerful girls with different personalities walk the road of becoming a popular Idol with a pure heart and kind attitude.

Cinderella Girls has many nice character designs, I instantly was captivated by Rin Shibuya as I’ve seen her as grey prototype. In the meantime I also ordered Shimamura Uzuki from the same lineup, she should be released by the end of this month. I also like how Koshimizu Sachiko was adapted by Phat Company.

Hair & Face

The figure has long brown hair with detailed strands and a very clean finish and realistic flow.

Rin’s facial expression is very well done, in my opinion it conveys how much she enjoys singing for the audience, with her radiant blue eyes, the slightly flushed cheeks and her big mouth with the upper front teeth line she makes a cheerful and positive appearance as a whole.

Compared to her body the figure has a big head from some angles it makes her look a bit strange, owning to the unique Idolm@ster look Rin has been faithfully sculpted. Overall the face is nevertheless quite pretty and shows her enchanting happy face.

Outfit & Body

Rin Shibuya wears a gorgeous outfit, it’s called “New Generation” colored in very dark colors. Compared to other Idol outfits, which accentuate characteristics like playfulness, innocence and being cute. Purple and black give Rin a more grown up, mature look.

The design is very appealing and mixes modern elements with classic feminine fashion like the glossy corsage with the classic frilly dress underneath. The corsage pushes her delicate chest a bit. The figure shows some skin without selling herself for cheap to make up for bad music like certain US so called artists.

Confess! who did you prefer in the early 2000 era Britney or Christina Aguilera?

Well, these two actually have not much in common with the Idol culture in japan, the language aside there are differences in the visual presentation and attitude of the singers. Once it happens that I disliked most western female solo artists and nowadays I’m rarely listening to western Pop music, but next to a variety of J Pop and Rock I still enjoy some western bands.

Back to topic, Rin’s outfit; I love to look at her multi layered skirt, the awesome boots or the metallic colored buckles on her corsage, in my eyes it has an Hispanic touch with all the frills and decoration in her hair. You really see her Idol  atmosphere.

Final Words

This Shibuya Rin figure is the first released scale figure of iDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls, she passed with waving flags, I really like her and the image of an sparkling, teen Idol who loves to sing on the big stage. Her dress is beautiful and has many nice details, she has a distinctive style and overall the girl has a nearly flawless quality. Also her face is quite adorable with her big eyes and sweet expression. It’s a quite photogenic figure, somehow her Idol background is fun, it is really enjoyable to take pictures of Rin in a lot of different ways. In my opinion she’s great.

What do you think about Rin?

Soon I will go on vacation, for the first 14 days of June I will be away in France. I will probably be able to check out your new posts, but maybe I will not post anything during vacation.

I see, so you are also 15 and like dogs and are a Lion. Interesting things to have in common with Rin.
I never actually heard Rin before, only read a Cinderella manga so I’m surprised to hear how she sounds for the first time.
I like that microphone with the cable, cables are reliable unlike wireless signals. I like how it gives an even bigger illusion of movement to Rin.
Her stage outfit is really nice, it really shows her “cool” idol type as shown on the game. I’m surprised with how well it looks since it really is only one color which would make me thing it would like too bland.
What do I think of RIn you ask? Well, that’s simple… I wish I had bought this figure when I had the chance.

    • wieselhead

No, I’m not 15 anymore, unfortunately, but the rest is true.
Well, I’ve only seen her character design and liked it on first sight.
I often check some details about an unknown character the figure is based on when I write the review.
It was interesting to hear her for the first time, but I actually thought her voice was cuter.

I agree, the figure looks more dynamic with her flying cable, still it can be dangerous on stage.
It suits her very well, the frilly things and the purple accents, add a bit more detail.
      Really haha don’t lie ;p

  2. frasbob

I’ve always really loved the pose of this figure, seems so dynamic and life like. Seriously starting to consider picking her up myself after seeing so many photos of her around the internet. Definitely a nice figure all around

    • wieselhead

Her Idol appearance is very convincing in terms of outfit and pose, Rin is really pretty.
There are many possibilities for making creative and nice pictures with her.
I still have a “rainy” idea in my head, that I’d like to try.

  3. feal87

The face is a bit stiff, but the rest of the figure looks pretty attractive. I wonder if I should play the game to know about these characters too…*laughs*

    • wieselhead

I agree about the face, from some angles it is not that pretty, but she looks very good at the right place ^_^
Haha my hands are full with Kantei Collection, I have no time to train cute Idols.

  4. Tier

This is a really cute figure, as are a lot of the Idolmaster figures. I don’t own any of them (at least, I don’t think I do) but I’m hoping someone does one of Rin in her schoolgirl outfit; I like her unkempt look, with her messy hair and loose necktie. I think I prefer her sullen look but I like how she’s really getting into her song here, too. I don’t really listen to much pop music, but I guess I liked Aguileira better, as she has more in common with the neo-soul and R&B singers that I listen to, but I don’t dislike Britney. With so many characters in the Idolmaster now, they should make at least one a rapper. Have fun on your vacation! Memorial Day was yesterday here in the US, and though that holiday has a greater significance, in practice it marks the official start of summer and summer always seems like a good time to take things slowly.

    • wieselhead

Rin looks also great in her more casual outfit, I like a slight delinquent attitude or be it just the outer appearance.
It’s always the question how many figures from a game/anime manufacturers will make before they lose interest, a rapper girl would be funny though.
I liked Aguilera more as well, she looked gorgeous and I felt more at home with the black music elements in her music. No, I really disliked Britney, her voice, her songs the dumb stuff she said in interviews XD
Oh thank you Im really looking forward to it ^^

  5. Cerberus

agree with Tier. the performance outfit is gorgeous but as a big fan of school uniform I’d like some figure with school outfit. These are the rare cases where I think dolls have more fun than scaled figures.

And again great shots! Is that pink ring your fancy table fan? You can always find something that fit into the theme of the figures.

    • wieselhead

I bet there are more fans of school uniforms out there, seeing some of these in school uniforms or casual clothes would be a nice addition to the main line up of fancy idols. Yeah that is a point, dressing them up adds more variety, but imo the figures have often better expressions than a stock Dollfie for example.

No, it actually is a 24€ light with rotating disco balls and led called “LumiSource Novelty Disco Planet” haha.

  6. Cerberus

Disco Planet emmmm, that’s like the right thing for idol performance. I wonder how it will look like if you put the disco ball back and turn it on in the shots?

    • wieselhead

yes, I found it at the grocery store, I thought hey that would be the right thing for Rin and Uzuki, the other Idolmaster girl I*ve ordered.
Im not sure if I can seperate the disco ball without breaking the frame.

  7. Hoshiko

Is the iDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls free? I must be living in a cave since I’m not aware of this, lol. And I like her in her school uniform better than the one she’s wearing on the figure. The figure’s cool though, I like the mic especially. It complements Rin’s posture.

By the way, in the early 2000s, I’m more of a Christina Aguilera fan and still is, for the most part…

    • wieselhead

I guess it is, I haven’t tried it yet, it’s a big hit in Japan.
Ah yes I understand, her casual look is also quite charming, I think Rin’s face is sweet anyway 😉
Ok, I don’t know about her latest works to be honest.

  8. Duqs

Picture number 016 makes Rin look like a member of a real idol group with all the bokeh lights out there. Coincidentally, this is the same number i love with the Alleyne review lol.

Out of all the Cinderalla Girls, Rin and Ranko are my favorite. Had ti skip her because of upcoming purchases (and Alleyne happened lol). I have to say, GSC did justice to this figure as they made her look charming without losing that stern and somewhat distant aura about her.

Good grief i love your macro shots, you have a macro lens? @_@

    • wieselhead

That was the plan, I’m glad you like it’s surprising how you can get all creative with her, just because of her fancy dress.
Haha that is an interesting coincidence 😀 Oh I know Ranko, the goth loli fashion suits her very well.
Skipping figures is not easy in the end I’ll often order them later lol, I still want this mouse Sonico.

Yes, you get the best bokeh with such lenses, I have a Sigm 50mm and 70mm

  9. Pinkcheeks

Oh gosh what a lovely set of photos! You just made me feel like I’m watching her in a concert! Great job! I haven’t played that game yet, maybe let me check if it’s available in Play Store lol 😀

    • wieselhead

Oh thank you, I wasn´t sure if this was good enough for Rin, there were some minor details I´d liked to improve.
Actually I don`t know where it exactly can be played XD

  10. kixkillradio

Love the set with sparkling bokeh on the background! How did you do that? Might try it out in the next shoot.
She looks like she’s really having a concert. Plus, I love her hair. She looks alive and cute (even though I’m not really familiar with the Cinderella girls 😛 )

    • wieselhead

Thank You, I created this with a funny lamp (LumiSource Novelty Disco Planet) from the grocery store, it’s equippeed with led lights and rotating disco balls. Its not the most beautiful gadget, but it creates the right bokeh for an Idol.
She is a nice figure today I received a new Idol figure I’m looking forward to make the next shooting ^^

  11. dragonfish

You know what will be cool? Making a figure of Rin Shibuya “Over Myself” version. I have always wondered why no one has ever done that. Someone please make it come true! I love that version of Rin Shibuya.
