Dwarf – Lineage II by Orchid Seed

dwarf-header
Hello everyone today I will review a cute little Dwarf, no grumpy bearded one, like in Lord of the Rings it is a female one with a fancy looking dress. Dwarf was manufactured by Orchid Seed she got delayed in December and so her release date was in January 2011.
She is descried as a Non scaled figure, her size is around 210 mm, which gives her the appearance of a 1/8 scaled figure, at the moment she stays next to Momohime and Maryan and they look very good together.

The origin of Dwarf is the Lineage II MMOPRG, her name sounds not very lovely. I guess its just the name of her battle class. This time I can’t provide much background informations about her origin, I’ve never played this Game and never felt the urge to do so.
any Lineage II players here?
In the Game you have a lot of freedom to design your character, so I don’t know why they made Dwarf look like this, the main characteristics of the Dwarf battle class are the twintail hairstyle, the cute face an the quite short legs in comparison to other battle classes. In the Game her sweet dress is called formal wear and you can get it in a quest of the game.

Unfortunately that were all the infos I could gather about her in the Game, so from now on I will focus on giving you my thoughts about her sculpt and on her outfit.

As always I will start from the top to the bottom, so at first comes her hair, Dwarf has beautiful dark pink colored hair with a cute twintail hairstyle. There are two colored metallic cone like hair attires at them, another detail of her hairstyle are the two long strands at the sides of her bangs wich are framing her face. The flow her hair as well as the strands are very well detailed and cleanly sculpted, hidden behind her bangs you can see her thin dark pink eyebrows.

the cat head item at her necklace ia very cute isn’t it? I never noticed that in the preview shots.

Now to the eyes, they are matte coloured but the paintjob lets them appear deep and shiny.
Her big round eyes are looking great and give Dwarf a very lively and lovely expression.
Then comes the cute snub nose and the light blush marks at her cheeks.
I don’t like figures with wide open mouths very much, even though Im owning quite a few ;D
The half open mouth of Dwarf is sculpted very nicely, I really like the depth of it and how you can see the tounge inside her mouth, overall her face looks very soft and extremely cute, in terms of happiness and cuteness her face beats the little Nanoha which I reviewed last time, Maryan and even Reinforce II.

The outfit of Dwarf appears like a mix of a wedding dress and a ballerina outfit it has frilly straps and oval bulky skirt part. The top which covers her delicate chest and her belly has a light pink colortone while the rest of her dress; with exception of her underskirt everything has a cream white color and a nacre shining effect to it which resembles silk cloth a bit, it has nice details, like seam lines indentations and so on. The underskirt is white but semi transparent and has some small ornaments printed on it. To match the look of the whole outfit Dwarf also wears armlong gloves. To add more playfulness to her dress, a lot of pink ribbons have been used, my favorite ribbon is the big one at her neck.

Just imagine you have a fight with Dwarf in the game and then your badass looking character got humiliated by a guy who uses such a cute looking female Dwarf as character.
I guess the reaction would be priceless. ;D

The body of Dwarf looks attractive; well she doesn’t show much skin, but the places where she shows skin look really nice, at the front you have her pretty collarbones and at the backside.
You can see her pretty back with the nice shoulder blades, haha I sound like Im drooling XD

If you think that her light pink colored harem pants (I know that sounds ridiculous, but these pants are really named likes this) look silly. Orchid Seed provided a cast-off option; under her harem pants you can see white, scanty cutted and frilly panties. When casted off you can also see her nice legs and her buttocks are a little bit exposed. As long as you don’t flip her over or look from a very low angle you can’t see her panties, but the exposed legs add a different look to Dwarf so I think this cast-off feature is useful.

When looking at the shoes of Dwarf it appears that she has quite small feet, they are cute and like all the ribbons at her dress the design of the socks also adds some playfulness to the figure.

Dwarf appears very girly and cute, but she’s not defenceless because Orchid Seed equipped her with a mighty looking bow, it is silver, silver-gold and gold colored the detailed sculpted slots are looking very good, the bow isn’t colored too shiny, otherwise it would mismatch with Dwarfs outfit. The bow can be divided in two parts, so you can put it in Dwarfs hand. In Dwarfs box you can also find a metal rod arrow with an heart shaped head. It is supposed to be put between Dwarfs index finger and the middle finger.

Dwarfs base looks like the garnishment of a wedding cake, but you can’t eat it of course.
It is mainly made of transparent plastic, with heart shaped ornaments and some gem shaped transparent parts on it, as I had her on my desk it was fun to be able to rotate the figure with on finger. Dwarf is attached to the base with one leg; she is well balanced and has comparative short and sturdy legs so the possibility of her to lean in the future is pretty low.

So after all the text it is time for final words about Orchid Seed’s Dwarf figure
Dwarf is my first figure from Orchid Seed and I’m really satisfied with their final product.
I didn’t know they were this good. Im a fan of cute looking figures, so of course I love this Dwarf figure, she is incredible cute. Her face is cute because of the well painted green eyes and the half open mouth. Her outfit looks really nice and gives Dwarf a fairy-like, enchanting vibrancy.
dwarfdwarf
You may have noticed that most of the time I’m quite positive and maybe a bit too nice with the figures in my reviews, but it’s no exaggeration when I say that Dwarf is the best figure I’ve bought since ALTER’s Momohime in July 2010. The figure looks a bit girly and sweet but it’s not like you will get tooth decay from her sweetness, she fits very well into my collection and I was glad that I ordered her. I’ve done no real rating of my collection so far.
But in my unofficial rating, I would place her under my personal Top 3
Momohime – Dwarf – Maryan.

If you are interested in her
Otacute has her on Backorder for 69,90$ (lol for that price I should have ordered there)
AmiAmi still has her for 78,34 Hobbysearch has her for 82,83$ as well as HLJ for 88,15$
don’t miss your chance. she’s a really cute and beautiful figure.

I played Lineage II for a couple of months a few years back. A friend of mine was getting tired of World of Warcraft and I had been thinking of trying it because the female dark elves were hot so we gave it a shot. We didn’t do much more than kill mushrooms in the newbie area before we got tired of grinding mobs and quit. The dark elf character models looked really good, though, I have to admit.

I have a like/dislike relationship with Orchid Seed; some of their figures are kinda bad and some of them are really good and I never quite know what to expect from them. In my experience, their NSFW figures are better than their cute figures but I’m glad to see that the dwarf girl doesn’t follow that pattern. I never saw a female dwarf character while I played L2 but it looks like they did a great job with depicting their cuteness while offering a hint of the sexiness that L2 is infamous for. Her bow looks fantastic too. I hope their dark elf figure turns out as well.

Ahh, I didn’t want to own her until I read through your review! She looks absolutely gorgeous in your photos, better than in the promo shots.
I really, really like the pink colour of her hair. It’s such a lovely shade! I think I’m mostly impressed with the detail on that bow of hers.. is it hard to put her arrow on?
    Mmm.. she’s so cute..

I haven’t played any of the Lineage MMOs but that’s probably for the best, I get addicted to MMORPGs way too easily, ehehe..

Wow, a very nice review, very in depth^^
man, I love those back shots the most!

I thought this character was from some magical anime lol, until you stated it was from Lineage II. I find it hard to believe, that such a cute character like that, you can customise in the game!

I’d definitely get this figure but sadly I don’t know much about her besides what you have wrote. Not enough for me to get her.

But she is a lovely figure and a nice review!

I love her dress, it looks so frilly and detailed. The base also looks really delicate, which is actually perfect for this figure.

The only thing that I don’t like about it is her hair colour. It’s so bright that it draws your attention away from the dress and other parts of the figure. If they made it just slightly paler, I think it’d be perfect.

Hi Nopy ,yes she has a nice and girly dress.
Ah I see, the strong radiation of her haircolor is partly my fault because I played a bit with the contrast.
In normal light it’s a bright pink as well but actually not like in my pictures ;)

Very nice camera work as usual. What impresses me most is how you do the backgrounds. How did you make this one? I really want to crib a few of your techniques in my own work.

    Hi thank you ;)
It isn’t that complicated, for this shooting I’ve used a big rectangular box , then I’ve put white fabric over it, then I’ve put semi transparent green fabric (its called organza)over the white fabric in a wavy way
the things in the background are plastic flowers I’ve bought at a deco shop and the other stuff is wood and green stones from mother nature :D
for the lightsetting I used a big softbox from the left a small lightsource from the right and a flash.
the main effect makes the depth of field, which you can control with the aperture of your camera and the distance between camera and object.
I hope that was a bit helpful :)

This is a rather cute some figure, twin tailed girls in a frilly dress are so much more appealing than your regular dwarf.

I like the base and bow nice touches to spice up this figure.

When you mention the word “dwarf” you tend to think of stout and grubby little miner folks. Oh how far away from that stereotype Lineage 2 Dwarfs are.

She is nice and colourful, and looks nothing like you would expect a dwarf to. I like her bright pink hair the most.

Her bow is also very interesting – it’s nice and chunky looking as opposed to looking like a fancy curved stick. I often wonder how game designers come up with so many unique looking bows – swords you can go nuts with, bows not so much.

Being able to swap out her trousers is also a nice touch. Gives you more options of how to display her.

Yeah every Dwarf should look like her =D
The bow is a really nice item for her
both options do look good, but in the cold season I won’t steal the trousers from her .

Aaaah female dwarfs = perpetual lolis XD.

The biggest eye catcher in this figure in my opinion is that really well designed bow that keeps stealing my eyes’ attention.

You remember the time i said i like base transparent ? well take that back, seriously, i think this is one of the greatess base to match with the figure, the design and color, top top!
btw i prefer her with the underwear rather than bloomers or shorts or whatever! O.o
as per the pose well obvious she has to have that thing shes carrying or else without it she looks weird haha

    wieselhead Reply:

thx for visting again Yes I remember :D
well 50 % of her base is transparent, but your right it suits her very well, I also prefer her underwear XD

without the bow it doesn’t really look that weird, because you can see more of her skirt =)

Cutest dwarf ever? ;) Why are dwarfes either really ugly (LOTR) or really cute (Queen’s Blade)? xD
She seems like a pretty nice figure. I don’t own any Orchid Seed figures myself since I’m not usually a fan of the characters but they do seem to make very attractive figures, you know? ;) I have been tempted on several occasions ^^

    Nicely reviewed Fabienne (aka wieselhead?!).

However, I’m not used to the fact that a dwarf uses bow… hmmm… I always know that they use axe instead of bow due to accuracy. But this dwarf sure looks cute :)

Also, I’ve not seen such fanciful wedding cake too… ;)

An Axe in combination with this dress would be really funny =D, the long range bow saves her dress from bloodstains I guess.
