Welcome to Wieselheads anime corner, I never was especially good with such posts, but it’s nevertheless always fun for me. In this post I will talk about the recently aired Ao no Exorcist: Kyoto Fujouou-hen, a show from the Anime Winter Season 2017. I always was a fan of stories about the devil and demons in general, back in 2011 there once was an awesome anime called Ao no Exorcist, a show that I would even count as one of my favorites, it left a unforgetable impression on me.

Surprisingly in 2016 it was announced that Ao no Exorcist would get another anime adaption, after 7 years, still I was overjoyed after reading the news. The first adaption was filled with lots of original content to make the anime 25 episodes long. Strangely the new anime Ao no Exorcist – Kyoto Fujouou-hen is no complete sequel and didn’t continue where the old one ended, it was more like a re – roll after the first quarter.

Okamura Rin is the son of Satan, but together with his little brother he was adopted by an Exorcist and raised in secret as normal child. After some dramatic events Rin enters the True Cross Academy, a school for Exorcists with his whereabouts officially kept secret. The old anime was a really nice show, I loved the cast and atmosphere.

Ao no Exorcist is a straight shounen show with brilliant action and emotional aspects, in Ao no Exorcist – Kyoto Fujouou-hen, one chapter of the manga has been adapted, it begins after Rin revealed his demonic form to his classmates and teachers, the truth also reached the higher ups and Rin must take responsibility, but in the end he gets another chance. Nevertheless in the first episode his classmates literally shun him and have high distrust. Rin is a little ingenuous, but actually a good boy with a big heart.

During the arc this anime is about, the class takes an excursion to Kyoto, also to solve the case of a very dangerous stolen demonic item. During their stay at the local temple, things escalate

The re roll seems to be a weird idea, but in my opinion the new one is also a great anime, it kept the good points of the old one and does certain things better than it’s predecessor. Ao no Exorcist: Kyoto Fujouou-hen has a slower pace, but at the same time it feels more elaborately directed, be it the detailed interactions between the characters or the detailed view on their personalities, their motivation and problems.

The story had many interesting sublots, most prominently Rin must master his demon powers to win back the trust of his classmates and Suguro must deal with his weird father. A smaller part is about Shiemi, who has to find the confidence in herself again.

Kyoto Fujouou-hen makes good use of everything that is interesting about the genre called “shounen”. It has comedy, good action and most importantly it should make the viewer share the emotions of the characters in times of happiness or while they struggle in agony or against obstacles that appear larger than life. I really like the realistic portrayal of these teenagers and their problems and worries. Although it is fantasy setting these problems are quite transferable into a realistic context.

After I’ve watched over Rin and Shiemi I really could feel where they are coming from, the most rewarding moment with such things is when the characters can overcome their problems with effort and some good fortune in the end, after they walked the long road of defeat. These things are motivating. Although In the real world most things depend on luck and fortunate events, nevertheless a positive attitude and believing in the own strengths is always the first step. Such shows often have the ability to boost ones motivation and are a reason why I still watch anime.

This anime has an interestingly told overaching plot, nicely interwoven with the big and small sublots, which leads to a very powerful, action packed an exciting finale.

Haha and applause for the wonderfully made epilogue, I’ve rarely seen one like this.

Considering that they adapted only one arc so nicely in Ao no Exorcist – Kyoto Fujouou-hen, I would like to see more content adapted in the future. I hope
Aniplex and A-1 pictures still have interest to make another adadaption like this.

Today I will review a MegaHouse G.E.M. figure, it’s the name of their male figure line up.

Recently more male figures appear in the figure market, which was always dominated by boobs and moe, named female figure. Well, I prefer female figures, but one male figure won’t hurt in my collection nor my sexual orientation. I actually wanted to buy the G.E.M. figure of Rin Okumura, because I like him a lot as a character in the anime, but I unfortunately didn’t like how he turned out in the end, I kind of disliked his faces, that was really not my Rin. After I had some interest in ALTER’s upcoming Waver Velvet, I ended with the purchase of Yukio Okumura.

Yukio Okumura is from the anime/manga Ao no Exorcist, it was a really cool anime that Im actually rewatching. Yukio is the younger brother of Rin, even though Yukio seems to be more grown up in every regard. Yukio is already working as an Exorcist and is also a teacher at the cram school in True Cross Academy, it’s kind of funny how he lectures his older in the anime.

The figure of Yukio Okumura was manufactured by MegaHouse and released on the end of January 2013. The figure is scaled 1/8 and has an overall height of 23 cm. Yukio Okumura was sculpted by Iwamoto Kunihito who also made this interesting figure of Sakura Matou.

The figure comes with several parts, there are two arms, two heads with different expressions, plastic glasses and two wire glasses. You can also seperate the hands and the guns of him.

Hair & Face

The figure resembles the anime counterpart to a big extent. Yukio has short black hair with spiky strands all around. A wide mouth is part of the characterdesign of Ao no Exorcist. The skintone has a natural pale color and Yukio has two moles on his face which suit him good.

Yukio is obviously a pretty boy with a few feminine characteristics in his face, it has well defined proportions. He has strong and straightened eyebrows and his blue eyes also look great and very detailed. His mouth also shows slightly accentuated lips with dark shading in between. A stronger jaw and an expressive chin are also something that sets him aside from female figures.

As a friend of glasses, the Yukio figure is even more fun for me, he comes with three glasses, a thick frame model. The other model is made of wire and comes in two different colors. With the rectangular cutout in the frame It is closer to the glasses which where used by Yukio in the anime, In my pictures I only used the plastic frame, sorry I actually forgot to change them ^^.

The glasses can be taken off, but thats not the only possibilityto change the way to display this figure, Yukio has a second head with a different faceplate. So the kind Yukio from before has turns into a serious, angry excorcist, he has different eyebrows, more closed eyes and a not amused mouth. Aside from the lack of sunglasses, you ou could also think he is a character from The Matrix. This is not my favorite, but it looks also very good and matches Yukio’s angry side.

It’s cool that MegaHouse included the two face feature, since it gives you the freedom to display Yukio figure with the expression you prefer, with glasses or without. Aside from the seam on the hair it’s a seamleass solution to swap the heads. Im slightly prefer friendly Yukio.

Body & Outfit

With a height 23cm Yukio is a little taller than most female 1/8 scaled figures on my shelf, but he is still in the zone to be displayed next to them without looking awkward. Yukio stance is a little leaned backwards with the head turned to the left, I have no idea why he doesn’t stand straight, maybe it should look like the bullet tim in the Max Payne video game. Yukio is wearing a long black leather trench coat which is also the unform for male teachers at True Cross Academy.

The folds and wrinkles give this piece of waredrobe it a really realistic touch, I really like the look of it. Underneath there can be seen the collar of his shirt and the striped necktie. Other parts of his outfit are normal black business man trousers and shoes. Around his waiste Yukio is wearing a brown belt where he is stioring a lot of ammunition, at the backside holsters for his two guns.

Even though it might look like the guns can be put in the holsters and the straps could be placed in the small holes, don’t try it, it’s not possible, just a nice illusion of this figure.

While mainly kept in a black colorsheme, there are a lot of small details on Yukio’s outfi, like the buttons, realistic seams and so on, the shading and incooperated details really let the outfit appear close to a lifelike appearance, overall It is very cool and are one of the reasons why the Yukio Okumura figure is so appealing.

Since Yukio’s Exorcist class is Dragoon, he uses guns. In fact he id wielding two Springfield M1911A1, they can also be take out of his hands, but there is nothing elso for Yukio to hold.

The fgure has a second option to change it’s look, there is another right arm, so you can display Yukio in a more relaxed action posed with both arms down, but there is also an outstretched arm that gives the whole figure are tougher appearance. He is standing on a small, dark-blue, octagon shaped base with a symbol and the name Yukio Okumura written on it.

Final Words

So this ends the review of Yukio Okumura from MegaHouse, they created a really good figure of this character, I have to say. Well, it is my first male anime figure and while he has not the charm points of female figures like bright cuteness or sexy curves, Yukio is a good looking bishounen figure in a very cool outfit. The alternative parts and different display options are also a big plus.

It also has really been some time since I got myself a new MegaHouse figure, I guess I only have ever bought Nanael and Echidna if Im not mistaken. A reason for that few figures might be that they rarely made figures that interested me much, they should make a Lyla from Queen’s Blade Rebellion someday. Anyway, Im glad that the figure turned out like that, he is a great figure of Yukio Okumura and has a very good quality, I haven’t found a real flaw so far.

I won’t buy another male figure in the near future, but if there would be a second time, I would definetely want to have a figure of Koyomi Araragi. He is probably my favorite male character.

Hello everyone, time for the first New Preorders Post in this new year 2013. I ordered and preordered a few things recently, a little bit of restraint is still present, but that might change soon and I will be back into the devastating Passionate Collector Mode!

last minute orders

Yoshi Hotori from Native – You know, I have this “No pantsu No purchase” rule and even though it hurt, I decided to pass on this figures because of her exposed rear. But Im only human and even my restrain has it’s limits, after MastraCustom, Tier and Bakayaro “rubbed” their purchased Hotori under my nose, I was quite angry that I hadn’t ordered her before like they did. Well, in the end I tried my luck at the german figure shop Yorokonde and surprisingly I got the very last copy for a fair price. I actually wouldn’t have mind the figure to be more dressed, since her nudity wasn’t the thing that convinced me get her. I like the long twintails, the pretty face and the outfit of this figure. I kinda feel dirty though, let’s see if I can display her anywhere.

Yoshi Hotori was released in June 2012 and the figure is scaled 1/7 with a height of 23 cm. This January month actually shouldn’t end with two purchased figures, but it can’t be helped now.

new figure preorders

Chouhi Ekitoku from Orchid Seed – After I was kind of dissapointed by the outcome of this figure at first, after a lot of seesaw I gave in and finally ordered magical Chouhi. I rewatched Ikki Tousen Dragon Destiny recently and found quite a liking to it again. I like the wild and loud character of Chouhi a lot and in this cute costume, Im kinda enchanted by this figure. Other than my first impression I really think that she looks like the Chouhi Ekitoku I know. She is cute and a little naughty, Which as nice combination I like how her pose is focused on her cute butt.

Chouhi Ekitoku is scaled 1/7 and has a height of 18 cm, the figure should have been released in December 2012, but was delayed to early spring of 2013, I guess I should receive her in March.

Cat Lap Milk from Native – I passed on too many nice Native figures which where released recently, partially because of the lewdness of their figures. But this figure should be mine, since she is wearing optional panties, Im relieved. I like maid outfits as well as cat ears, so I didn’t need much time to make this purchase. Cat Lap Milk offers many different cast off stages. It’s really hot how her big boobs with the pointy nipples are pressed on the transparent floor/wall.
This figure looks really naughty with her flushed cheeks and her little tounge out and the whole milk on the floor situation, but I like this figure. It is said that a second pair of boobs for a different display option will be included, even though I don’t know how this will work in the end.

The figure is scaled 1/7 which makes her 180 cm long and 12 cm in height. Like everything from Native, Cat Lap Milk is a exclusive figure that has to be bought with the help of a proxy buyer, the release is sheduled for July 2013.

Okumura Yukio G.E.M MegaHouse – Ah yeah, Waver Velvet won’t be my first figure of a male character, I bought Yukio from Ao no Exorcist, what I really enjoyed to watch instead. Initially I planned on getting his brother Rin, but I didn’t liked how his faces turned out, I guess I couldn’t have looked at it without feeling annoyed after some time. Well, Yukio comes with a kind and handsome bishounen face expression, which was one of the reason I considered this purchase at first. He also has a serious alternative face and also an optional arm will be included.

I think he looks very bad ass in his black long coat and his Springfield M1911A1 guns. I never expected to get a male figure, but I think it’s worth to give this figure a try. Okumura Yukio is scaled 1/8 and has a height of 23 cm, the release is sheduled for the 29th January 2013.

Jingai Makyo Ignis of the endless winter from Orchid Seed – I don’t know the Game she is based on, her personality. I haven’t even followed her development at first. But I think it’s a very pretty looking figure, it seems like she’s something special that I didn’t want to miss. I like her elaborate white outfit, that looks like a combination of a wedding dress and straitjacket ;D. Joking aside, I really like so much about her design, red hair, pointy ears and a very pretty face. Ignis is also castoffable, the transparent bodytight is quite sexy and she has pretty boobs.

Whatever silly game happened between AmiAmi and Orchid Seed during the last year, on the bottomline AmiAmi is selling Orchid Seed figures again. In my “The figure year 2012 in numbers” post, I find faulty that I haven’t bought enough Orchid Seed figures, that should hopefully change in 2013, maybe they can finish one of the big Sonico’s. This figure of Ignis was accounced three years ago and now her release is sheduled for the end of February 2013.

I’ve ordered a GK figure

Mashiroiro Symphony – Sena Airi from Gathering/E2064 – I rember that I saw this GK a few years ago and I wanted it quite badly, one proxy tried to grab one for me but it didn’t work since the GK was sold out in seconds. A few more months later this proxy offered me the unfinished GK, but 160$ appeared a bit much to me. At the end of this year I saw this finished GK of Sena Airi at E2046 for a fair price. I gathered all my courage and hit the order button, partially because I wanted the figure that I couldn’t get a few years ago, let’s call it delayed gratification.

Mashiroiro Symphony has a lovely characterdesign and very pretty schhool uniforms and I like how it was adapted in this GK figure, let’s hope that she comes close after these promo pictures in the end. Sena Airi is scaled 1/8 and has a height of 21cm, they could give me no info about a release date, but it shouldn’t take too long, so Airi should arrive somwhere this year.

Maybe Baby List

Nisemonogatari – Karen Araragi from GSC – Here is the lovely Karen on a steamroller, but wait holy shit! her retail price is around 11238 Yen, I don’t know what about her is worth that much money. It’s a nice figure but c’mon. Anyway her release date is sheduled for July 2013.

Racing Miku 2012 version from FREEing – Yeah that’s the latest Racing Miku figure and she turned out rather cute, I think her wide face is really cute, the upper front teeth line is so nice. I like the design mix of space princess and grid girl a lot, she is showing a lot of skin, even more with her transparent parts. She is scaled 1/7 and has a height of 26 cm, her release date is sheduled for June 2013. The retail price is 12190 Yen *lol* whats up with these prices recently!?

Surprisingly this figure won’t be produced by GSC, it’s a collaboration of Dragon Toys (Daiki Kougyou) and FREEing. I find Racing Miku 2012 quite appealing and I will consider her purchase.

Se Kirara – Kawamura Yuu from Max Factory – A more possible purchase may be the enchanting Yuu from the Se Kirara game, as I saw her yesterday morning I fell in love with this lovely figure. There is so much life in this dynamic pose and look at that beautiful face of her.

Yuu is scaled 1/7 and has a height of 21 cm, her release date is sheduled for May 2013. With a retail price of 7429 Yen she’s rather cheap compared to these other two. I love you Yuu.

In case you haven’t started anything from the new Spring Season 2011, (which I highly doubt), or haven’t decided about which shows might be good, I will show you my current watch list and my opinion about the shows I’ll follow in this season. This time I will try to keep the post a bit shorter so that you won’t overstress your eyes, or better said my fingers^^.

Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae wo Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cUcifHNu3K4
A story about a group of childhood friends who parted ways because Menma the chain link of the group died in an accident. A few years later the ghost of her appears before the former friend Jinta, a really messed up guy who is absent from school since quite a while. After the first 3 eps it appears like a heartwarming slice of life or growing up drama with a few comedy parts here and there. A very promising and well made anime of this season, I found it quite touching so far, the setting is very interesting.

Astarotte no Omocha!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hTYxG6YvzsA&playnext=1&list=PL4F35ECFD6E0657C7
I feel a bit like a perv for picking this show, mainly because the discription sounded more borderline than everything I’ve ever read about an anime, but I was curious and the cover was too cute ^^. This is quite a tame show I have to say, of course there are no scences which creeps you out. Astarotte(voiced by Kugimiya, Rie) is a tsundere succubus princess, after her 10th birthday, she have to create her personal harem for the future. Astarotte hates men, but as things progress her servant Judith summons a man from earth who now has to work in Astarotte harem( that are more works of a butler). His name is Naoya and he also is allowed to bring his bold daughter Asuha along. The show appears more like a cute lighthearted comedy with some emotional parts. It reminded me a bit of Zero no Tsukaima because of the environment and a bit of Hayate the combat butler, because Naoya has a similar personality like Hayate.
So far I think it’s enjoyable.

Ao no Exorcist

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aNSAvucQQzE
The main character Rin is a delinquent, well he tries his best to be a nice person, but he fails very often, later we learn that our main protagonist turned out as the son of Satan and his more or less peaceful days soon finds an end when demons are attacking him. I always liked this devil vs god settings. It seems to be a cool action anime with a dark story, but it also has some comedy moments. It is still quite violent and bloody. So far it’s a great show *thumbsup*.

Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g7CYHKYWzI8&feature=related
Our main character Makoto used to live on the countryside, but transfers to his pretty, but also weird aunt Meme, in the house also lives a girl named Erio who is rolled in a matress, later we learn that she is the daughter of Meme, but her mother ignores her all the time. The girl thinks that she is an alien and mainly acts weird and talks about weird stuff. Aside from that she’s quite attractive. Somehow she finds a liking to Makoto. The new classmates of him are also more of the weird kind, but they are cool and funny. The opening Theme is so great, catchy and energetic that I ordered the cd. If you like weird comedy’s from Shaft with great animations you can’t go wrong with this show.

Dog Days

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eICgT-3JMPQ
The kingdom of Biscotti is on the brink of defeat and the princess wants to summon a hero, who can save the kingdom. They summon a hero from earth the athletic high schooler Shinku, after the princess gives him a short introduction we learn that war in this world is totally different from the wars we know, nobody gets hurt or dies, it’ i more like Takeshi’s castle XD.
The princess forgot one little thing about summoning people, they can’t return to their homeworld anymore.
The female animal eared characters are very cute, especially the princesss (good dog ;p).
The anime is more on the comedy side, the setting seems to be interesting, so far I don’t know if the story will be interesting as well.

Hoshizora e Kakaru Hashi

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=18_Envg4r3I&feature=related
The main character Kazuma returns to the small town where he grow up, along with his small and a little bit sick brother Ayumu, no! this is not the gay version of Yosuga no Sora ^o^. I guess there will be two romance parts in this show, the one with Kazuma and the romance part where the small brother Ayumu choose his girl. It is a visual novel adaption which appears to be a bit random, well in this show we have some quite bold ecchi comedy, especially the preview comments “which part of the body tells like cheese?” *omg*. We have the random female harem characters in this show, the airhead, the tsundere, the shy one and so on. I think it is a lighthearted romantic comedy anime with some echhi moments here and there, so far I like it.

Kami nomi zo Shiru Sekai II

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mSei0DjOudQ
I never know if Keima is a sad case of a boy with videogame addiction, or if he’s a very cool guy.
If you don’t know whats the show is about. Keima has to help the clumsy, cute and airheaded shinigami Elsie, with catching loose souls of demons who possessed girls, he has to think about a way to win the hearts of these possessed girls, so they can get freed from the loose souls, if he refuses to help Elsie with her task the choker around his neck will kill him and also Elsie. As a new shinigami appears we learn more about the loose souls and the story begins. The show has a interesting setting and shows a beautiful an cute character design and animation style, furthermore it has really nice comedy moments.
You should watch it when you liked this first season of this show.

Moshidora

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vrgMRKWRXK0&feature=related
As I saw the cover of a girl with a baseball in her hand I was interested in this show, it took a while until subs were available. Minami‘s friend Yuuki is very sick and has to stay in hospital for a while. Unfortunately Yuuki is the manager of the high school baseball team as the good friend Minami is, she fills in for Yuuki, even if she doesn’t reallly like baseball anymore. To be a good manager she wants to get a book about baseball management, but she somehow bought the wrong book, business management instead of baseball management, but because Minami is short on money she keeps the book, she also has the opinion management is management. The book seems to be good help for the team and so some changes in the team occur. After episode 3 this anime felt a bit dry, also the baseball scenes aren’t as nice as in Ookiku Furikabutte for example, but in episode five there were hints of improvement. The animation style is clean but not really that attractive in my opinion.
I hope 10 episode are enough for conclude and tell the anime in a satisfying way.

Steins;Gate

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DT4T8vw2Vic
Hard to say whats the show about at that early point, but it has time traveling in it.
Our main character Hououin Kyouma is the slightly weird First year student who also has a persecution complex. in a cheap appartment which Kyouma and his friends Daru and Mayuri uses as a laboratory called Future Gadget Research Establishment, they are doing crazy things like putting a banana into the microwave, don’t try this at home even though I want to see a green gel banana. In the third episode they accidently created a little time machine with their microwave. The strong point of this show is the variety of cool and interesting characters. The story is tagged as a sci fi thriller (R-17+), but so far there were also nice comedy in the show, the animation style looks also very good. I highly recommend this show in this season.

So that is my current watch list.
Have I missed a cool show in this season you might know?
Have you already dropped something you couldn’t stand anymore? just let me know.

Next time I will show you a figure review again most likely Max Factory’s Haruka from Amagami SS
