Surprised?

Well, I don’t always have sexy ladies on review. Todays topic is Kafuu Chino made by Ques Q.
Chino appears in the Gochuumon wa Usagi Desu ka? anime as one of the 3 main characters.

She and her friends work part time in the food service area, Chino works at her family cafe.
She works dilligently and takes her tasks seriously and actually is a composed loli character.

I really liked Gochuumon wa Usagi Desu ka? this sweet slice of life show, where cute girls were doing cute things. The atmosphere was great and the comedy was hilariously funny.

Chino is 13 years old and a rather short girl, also for her age. The certain characterdesign of Gochuumon wa Usagi Desu ka? also gives her a young appearance. Chino’s figure was manufactured by Ques Q and sculpted by Shima, she is scaled 1/7, but considering her official data she is 1, 44 m, so the figures height of 18 cm make her even smaller than she should be.

I actually expected another figure to arrive first, but I quickly realized how I wanted to take pictures of Chino chan. So after grabbing all pieces I could start with taking pictures. Since the anime mainly showed events inside the cafe, I wanted to recreate the feeling of a classy cafe.

Design wise, it’s apparently a simple figure, that fact though doesn’t make any less adorable. The Junior High summer uniform looks great on her, the white maincolor is accompanied by navy blue details, tie and the small golden buttons are a great element. The skirt of her can be taken off, but I’m only interested in such cast off features with Onee sama like characters.

The creature she is carrying around is named Tippy. Tippy actually is Chino’s grandfather, trapped in a female angora rabbit’s body.

As optional part Chino has a super cute hat with magnet feature.

She looks super cute and chic with this hat, but also without it, she is a still a cute little lady, her bright lavender colored hair with smooth strands and cross hairclipson each side.

Chino has a cute round face with prominent and pretty blue eyes decals. The blush is nicely placed under her eyes. Her tiny point open mouth underlines her composed personality.

Final Words

When I buy figures, it’s not really important to me, to know the origin or the characters personality. Nevertheless sometimes appealing figures of animes characters I hold dear are made. It’s the case with Kafuu Chino, she is my sweet memento of the anime, a very good one. This relatively simple figure turned out very well, she has a really pretty outfit and is a convincing figure adaption of Chino. Two points to critisize are 1. the misleading scale label and 2. that the skincolor turned out slightly yellowish, nothing of that is a deal break, though.

Chino shows a lot of cuteness and has good photogenic potential. With 7.820 Yen she was rather cheap. For those interested Chino also available in her Winter School Uniform.

Today I have I – 168 on review a figure based on the Kancolle browser game, the figure was made by Max Factory and released in early June 2015. I – 168 is my second Kancolle figure this year, the first one was Kongou, also a nice figure made by Max Factory.

The figure was sculpted by MimiShiki, a fresh sculptor. Like all Kancolle figures from Max Factory the scale is 1/8. I – 168 comes with a hexagon base, a swimring and two torpedos.

Many of the first Kancolle figure anouncements and releases followed the pattern of girls with massive guns. The weapons are essential aspects of the character design, but also the unique artstyle of the characters is something very appealing for me, I also like many of the Destroyer based girls. The recently announced Tatsuta and Tenryuu from QuesQ caught my interest.

I still play Kancolle, although not as dilligent as before, I have fun with it. I’m also still happy to see new figures of it announced from time to time. The anime which aired recently, did not affect the characters chosen by figure manufacturers. Well, who wants a plain Fubuki ;D

The manufacturers are quite eager to make a Shimakaze figure, this certain character already has around 6 scale figures. I would rather see figures of other cute Destroyer girls, actually.

I love the submarine girls in Kancolle a whole lot, they appear like Highschool first years, cheerful, bubbly and determined to their task. Sometimes they also are a little childish, but that is what makes them so irresistable cute. These characters also have bright, vivid colors.

I could say this about at least 5 more characters, but I – 168 (Imuya) is my waifu (｡’▽’｡)♡

Expressive faces always have been very important for me since I’ve started collecting figures, it’s something that makes figures stand out and what make them look lively. Imuya has such an adorable face with nicely printed eyes, it’s full with her surprised and flustered emotion.

I love the quite strong blushmarks and her little open mouth, that her eyes turned to the right also helps with creating her unique and cute expression.

I-168 is wearing a slightly tattered school swimsuit that represents her after receiving damage, in undamaged state the girl would wear a school uniform shirt over her school swimsuit.

With my little setting, I wanted to recreate the ocean with Imuya in open water.

The paintjob on the shiny swimsuit looks very good with shading to accentuate certain places on it. Over her already blossomed boobs is her name tag, I like the idea that all subsubmarine girls are wearing these school swimsuits as a kind of uniform.

Imuya has burgundy red hair, she is sporting a detailed ponytail hairstyle and a few larger single strands, at the tips it changes to bright blue and some transparency is used. The white ribbon resembles a marine propeller, I-168 shows real submarine spirit in every place.

The character has the body of a girl still in development, although she looks already great.
The pose compliments her lower legs and hipline, the body sculpting turned out amazing overall. The arched back in combination with the shiny swimsuit is pure Kryptonite.

Aside from being a dangerous submarine the figure gives a feeling of the summer season, a cute girl ready to rock the beach with a cool swimring and practical flip-flops, they look somewhat crude for a sweet girl like her, but somehow it all creates a fitting appearance.

 I love how she is drifting on top of her ring, she’s so cute.

 
The tentacles are always a funny element in certain kinds of pictures, I hopefully didn’t went “over board” with that.

Final Words

Since I’ve placed my preorder I was really looking forward to see I-168 in person, now that she’s here I’m practically overjoyed. Imuya turned out so sweet and adorable, her face and expression alone make her something special, when purchasing her you also get a nicely posed figure in a tight swimsuit and a cool base. For me the figure is an amazingly nice item. Also after a closer look, there is actually nothing bad to say. With this detailed expression, the overall technical execution on this figure, there is not much more, that I could have asked for.

There also was a 1/4 scaled Imuya, but the small one has a much better face in my eyes.

I expect that Max Factory will showcase a painted figure of  I – 19, another submarine based character to appear on the Wonderfestival this month. I also would like to see a figure of I -8.

Sena Kashiwazaki is one of the heroines from the light novel and anime adaptions Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai, where sociable awkward teenagers try to find out about the definition of friendship. It’s a great show with it’s different approach on the harem genre and the portrayal of difficult things about making friends. The kids meet in the after school club “Neighbors Club”  where they either do what they like or plan activities friends would do.

Sena is popular with the boys, with the girls not so much obviously. She can be considered as beautiful girl, with her buxom body, Sena is a teenage boys dream in the flesh. Ok, not everyone prefers blonde (wieselhead raises his arm) Yeah, it’s ok dude to each their own.

Aside from being Yozora’s masochistic bullying victim and a hilarious comedy relief, she is a nicely fleshed out character with personality. To hide uneasiness she often tries to put on the arrogant rich girl act, what always seem to backfire at her during club activities. She is not dumb, though  and has perfect grades in school, but she is rather clumsy and gullible when dealing with other persons of her age, especially Yozora. Sena enjoys to play visual novels and  likes cute loli’s, so she’s partially the living otaku prejudice in the body of a buxom girl.

In terms of personal character ranking Yozora (gloomy girls are one of my weak spots) and Rika (her dirty mind) come before Sena, but she  is a character I also like quite a bit.

After several figures from Sena, Gift released their adaption of Sena in the end of July. The figure is scaled 1/4 which is quite the impact in the size department 37 cm are damn huge. She was sculpted by Kondou Takayuki who was in charge of many other big scale figures.
The sculptor stayed very close to Sena’s official character design, which was not always the case with figures based on Sena’s character. For some reason she often wears a swimsuit.

Swimsuit figures only make sense when they have a detailed body and an articulated, pretty pose. Sena has it all, her bodyssulpting is very clean and accentuates the image of soft skin.

She has a sexy bendover pose with entwined arms she is pushing her boobs up and her hips are pushed to the side. With her sideways tilted head she looks friendly and inviting.

Blonde characters are often portrayed with strong yellow hair, Sena has bright mustard colored blonde hair with very dynamic shading. The sculpting of her hair turned out really satisfying, detailed strands on front and backside and surprisingly also right on top. Her hair has curly tips at the end which looks really pretty. As decoration she has her trademark butterfly clip, it has a clean shape, but I would have preferred a transparency effect instead of solid colors. The figure also has some cute wrist accessories.

The face is very important for such large scale figures, I had some little doubts about the final figure, but Gift passed with waving flags. Sena fires a cheerful innocent smile at you and it works way too good with her lively eyes and rosy cheeks she looks just adorable. Her opened mouth shows a upper front teeth line and a cute fang both of it gives Sena a big, playful smile.

Yozora once gave Sena the actually mean nickname “meat” (肉), but it’s probably true in a positive sense. The figure is quite curvy, as Sena has a bit more sturdy body by nature, she’s not actually chubby though. The figure has wide hips, a soft belly and rather meaty legs.

Not only has Sena fairly sized boobs, she’s well balanced on front and backside. Girls with big boobs rarely have a memorable butt, this also applies in the opposite way. As I unpacked Sena, I was positively surprised by her stunning backside, like one of these girls from a rap video *lol*. Her butt is big and has a nice round shape, she also have lovely dimples above her butt. With her pose Sena puts her boobies into focus, but not that ecchi, unfortunately no traces of nipples are visible under her bikini, just vertical wrinkles from below.

Sena is wearing her standard turquoise colored bikini with yellow outlines and ribbons, her top is gently hugging her boobs and forms a great cleavage, there is no cut in effect at the front, at the backside her bottom part is more tight fit and can’t cover a lot of her buttocks,
it has realistic wrinkles and the brighter area recreate the illusion of stretched bikini cloth.

The girl has a rather extreme idea about a fashionable beach outfit, just look at these shoes.

Taking pictures of such a big beauty is kinda difficult at first, I mean with the 1/4 scaled
Fate Testarossa I had no problems. With Sena I was swapping lenses like crazy. With her big size there is no need for macro lenses, the wide angle exposed the narrow background too much, in the end the Tamron 17 – 50 zoom turned out as the best choice for my setup.
The topic for this shooting was sunset at the beach. The 120 cm reflector with the flash and orange film turned out quite satisfying for that, the fake sequin ocean could probably be improved, in the background it did a decent job.

Final Words

Gift made a very pretty big scale figure of Sena Kashiwazaki, the first great thing about her is the detailed facial expression, I like her cheerful smile a lot, her hair turned out nice and convincing. Another good thing is the detailed sculpting of her womanly body, Sena looks beautiful all around. The pose works best from full frontal and of course the backside, it depends on you if you want to admire her adorable smile or her glorious butt.

I got her for 10.580 Yen and considering the amount of PVC, large size and details this was quite a good price. There are not much things to complain about, the colors and shading have been carefully applied, she has no rough areas or seamlines. Only from a nitpicky perspective you could find 1 or 2 small imperfections on the figure, but it’s barely worth mentioning them.

On final summary Sena is a fantastic figure with a lovely smile and a beautiful, curvy body.

This figure of Fauna was manufactured by ALTER and released by the end of July 2007. This figure is scaled 1/8 and has a height of 180 mm. I recently bought the first release version that came with an original illustration card from the AmiAmi preowned section. At the begining of figure manufacturing it was still cool to make figures based on ero games, even for the big companies. ALTER  produced all three Megachu! heroines under the hand of Kouzuki Hajime.

Fauna’s origin is the well received ero game Megachu! that also got itself a three episode long ova with Fauna as the main heroine. Fauna and her angel coleagues are send to earth to deal with a rising danger thats coming from a normal boy, who will turn into a demon someday.
They actually should kill him, but because of her kind and friendly personality Fauna feels pity for the boy and tries to get rid of the evil seeds,  with other methods, you can probably imagine.

Hair & Face

The hair of this figure looks really good, it is light pink and has a detailed sculpting and show a good sense of flow. The bangs look especially nice on her. On her head there are some small wings attached. Fauna has a very appealing face, her happy face expression, I like her more prominent pink eyebrows quite a bit. The round blue eyes capture the appeal of the origin very well, the sparkle effect is so pretty. Even though the mouth could be a bit more detailed, it suits Fauna’s happy appearance. Blush stripes over her cheeks give Fauna an extra cute touch.

Body & outfit

Fauna has an attractive body, she’s actually  a slender girl with nice looking legs and a modest bust size, looking at todays anime the two extremes of very flat and quite huge are most used these days. Her jumping pose is and adorable part of this Fauna figure, her lifted waving hand is so nice, a funny side effect of her angled legs is that you actually can let her sit on slim items.

The outfit of her is a combination of space cadet and anime school uniform, I like the detailed look of it. Most parts of her dress are white, but the purple shirt underneath is a bit shiny which adds a transparent effect to it. I like the design a lot with the sleeves and the frilly part of her uniform the figure looks beautiful. These super thin black lines were applied very clean another thing that adds detailism to her dress is the strong usage of shading, it looks very good overall. I also like the bulky short boots that she is wearing.

The “belly button tight” dress is not that realistic, but it looks very well. Under her uniform Fauna is wearing a miniskirt, it isn’t too difficult to take a peek underneath ah yeah polka dot panties are nice ^_^. Aside from a ero game origin this is a modest figure, ok there apparently is a cast off option, but I have noticed this way too late. Plasticparfait can tell you more.

Fauna’s base is a litle undewhelming, compared to Fauna’s design, it’s just a plain clear blue disk with a metal rod, on the bright side it is reliable, sturdy and keeps the figure in place.

Final Words

As I saw Fauna for a very cheap price recently, I couldn’t say no to her, I always liked her design and then I finally could add her to my collection. The figure is really cute in an enchanting way.

In terms of quality and execution she is actually more than very well done considering that her manufacturing date was in 2007, she looks great and there are no obvious flaws. The design of her outfit is very pretty and Im a big fan of her adorable appearance, the face turned out so nice, also the sculpting is quite convincing. It’s an old figure I would recomend to get unconditiontally.
